Won’t happen, and even if it did it would take months to rule that.
The FA will want to keep them in the league to keep the top more interesting. Relegating the only team capable of competing with Liverpool right now is a bad move for the ‘brand’

Well said. City could have invested money slowly and within the rules but they wanted instant success. Pity that Liverpool have become unnaturally good now because of it though.

It's going to be a long wait if we finish 5th to find out if we qualify.
They wont be thrown into L2 but i'd be tempted to disqualify them for further participating in the Pl this season.
Also, though City themselves wont be involved in European football their results will obviously effect those teams who are fighting for European qualification.

Honestly if you cheat you deserve to be punished, simple as. I've stated already what I feel about Uefa and how why they've done it but for our part, do the crime, do the time.

What happened to Juventus when they were found guilty of corruption? The Italian FA relegated them to serie B, they came straight back up the following season and within a couple of years back in the champions league, UEFA did feck all and FIFA just threatened the Italian FA with some sort of punishment if Juventus appealed against the findings.
Real Madrid sold their training ground for what was regarded as a massively inflated fee to Madrid council, apparently the site was valued at 400k and then a few years later bought from Real Madrid for 245m wiping out Real Madrid’s 170m debt overnight.
Just 2 questionable incidents that I can think of off the top of my head but would any of those gone unpunished or at the least not been investigated if it had happened to major clubs from England that had involvement in the champions league? I would argue not.

Its been conflicting from the start, obviously I believed my club despite not being the biggest fan of our owner. I don't think it belittles the teams achievements, they are a phenomenal team but its a stain on the club.
Even if we get off on a technicality (which I think we will), it still tarnishes the achievements for sure.
I still have issue with ffp, its very reason for existing but thats a different argument. The minute the club struck a (rather dodgy) deal with Uefa in 2014 they agreed to FFP, for me we should have taken it on there and then. Not doing so said "hey we think ffp is fine", If you sign up to something you follow the rules and its looking like we didn't. As a club they should have known that when that dodgy deal was signed if the truth came out, Uefa would hang us to cover their own arses.
The only way the club can come out of this with any respectability is if CAS find Uefa wrong. If we get off on this with a "Uefa were leaking info" technicality, there will be a black mark for sure.

Financial fair play actually means unfairly permanently entrenching the same teams at the top of football. Restricting any further upstart teams buying their way to the top.

Pretty much, which is why I'm hoping that regardless of City's fate, FFP gets destroyed and football has a serious conversation about notions of fairness.

The likes of Sheffield Utd and Wolves are competing with Chelsea and Utd having spent far leads over the last 10 years, financial fair play is there so clubs can grown organically, it’s not there to keep the status quo. As what is the status quo? Liverpool who haven’t won the league in 30 years? Leeds who are in the championship? Aston Villa who have just been promoted?

I think that FFP was put in place to protect clubs going bust but also to protect the top clubs. So you have sympathy from me, just like the glazers should not have been able to straddle United in debt to buy the club.
The football City have been playing (tactical fouls aside) is a joy to watch. Which makes it so depressing having to watch the utter garbage of watching United for nearly 7 years.
It is true. You can't point at anomalies as proof against the overall trend. Look at the top leagues across Europe. Look at who makes it to the final stages of the CL year after year.
As for growing "organically" you can't mention Liverpool without mentioning Southampton, a club who did everything right yet are in danger of relegation due to... Yeah.
This doesn’t refute anything I said. Man United didn’t lie about where their money was coming from and there were years of work and marketing and stability under Ferguson that enable him and others to spend that money on players legally.
Even at that, Ferguson at his peak didn’t sign Carlos Tevez permanently. He sold players like Ronaldo because he had to. He had no way of paying them double under the table to keep them sweet. Sergio Aguero, one of the greatest strikers in the world over 10 years, and we hardly even as much as read a gossip column talking about Madrid/Barcelona. I wonder why!
Ferguson, Wenger and others also had to work for years to balance their squad and keep those who weren’t in the team happy. Do you really think that players like Jesus, Mahrez, Gundogan, Rodri, Silva etc... would be happy on the bench if it wasn’t for the extra, illegal, salary and payments?
Their squad is an artificial construction and exists purely on the basis of illegal spending and false documentation and their entire financial spreadsheet is one big farce to make it all happen.
They win the league cup every year because they are the only side who can field 200k players in every position while still resting their key stars.
They haven’t just infringed in the rules, they have smashed them and made a mockery of what other clubs have to deal with every season.

Yes it most definitely is true, it entrenches teams who already have high revenue in that position. That is the point of financial "fair play", stops investors pushing any further clubs to the top of the football tree.
Yes clubs are being mismanaged so are struggling this season, including Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs for different reasons.
Money doesn't directly turn in to points, medium term though, the big established football brands will rake the cash in and are pretty much guaranteed to be top teams now, forever. That (Chelsea, PSG, City etc) is why UEFA introduced it, so no more teams can do that threatening the already established elite.

You also have to note with Liverpool that they benefitted from that ludicrous Coutinho fee, and spent world record fees at the time, on both a keeper and a defender. Following a string of 20-40m level signings.
So we can't just pretend they've done it some sort of noble way, just because of not spending last summer for a one off.
