Aside from Championship Manager (and Footy Manager, my threads have a common theme so it seems) which ones did you used to play ?

I got introduced with the Premier Manager games on Megadrive, 97 was my favourite and then played the first premier manager on PSX (the one with Keegan on the box IIRC) tossed away loads of hours on them.

Also on the console side of things, the LMA series kept me at it for what seemed like forever, it had it's flaws but could keep you engrossed for hours.

What say you ? what are you manager sim memories ? if you know any for Megadrive and Snes then list them here because I could do with playing some old ones at the minute.

One of the best game I have ever played.

I'm sure it was Premier Manager97 I preferred, you could bang out a season in about half an hour it was brilliant. LMA series always kept me entertained, especially building the stadiums.

I had one called Ultimate Soccer Manager 98. You could bribe refs and take bungs and all sorts in it.

i used to play that

i loved how you could bet for or against your team too and build your stadium and stuff, choosing its design etc..

being able to skip matches also helped

I really enjoyed that one. I still have my original PSX disc. I liked the set play tactic board, where you could construct a set play in stages, that was cool.

The thing you dont notice is that the matches are actually fixed and are all scripted, regardless of any tactical changes you make, the second you start a match the end result has already been decided

Changing kit colour was mildly amusing though.

Don't know how I forgot Ultimate Soccer Manager, I was looking for a torrent of it the other day and even downloaded a OS X version of DOS to run it.

Championship Manager 2 - The 95/96 season one, possibly the best footy manager game ever made, had Red Clive doing commentary and we still had Eric

EDIT : Anyone play the newer Premier Manager games where you actually interacted with staff, agents and reporters that were in front of you and you had to read their body language to judge how a conversation was going.

Overall they were shit but I always thought that was a really good idea.

I think it was the 97 version where I found a nice trick to getting lots of money. It seemed that about 90% of the time, if you put a defender on the transfer market - even if you put them up for sale at 100 million or whatever the limit was, someone would come in and offer you the money for the player.

Also, Savio was great on that game... Too bad about real life.
