Man on Wire

And yea, I've seen it. It's a good documentary. Crazy guy, but he went out and did what he loved.

Load of pretentious, pseudo-meaningful cock, to be honest.

"Without ze tightrope, ah am nutheeng." feck off you souped-up clown.

Good film/documentary, enjoyed it, maybe the guy was a little pretentious but he lived his dream and pushed the boundaries of human endeavor

Agreed the french bloke did strike me as extremely pretentious. Trying to portray himself as a philosopher when essentially he was a mentalist.

It was still fascinating to watch though.

Balls I didn't know that was on been wanting to see it.

Agreed. The interviews with his friends etc. were fascinating, as was the footage. It was just his attitude of trying to ascribe some sort of deeper meaning to the whole enterprise which grated for me. That and his unwillingness to see that not everyone was willing to risk his life for what was essentially utter folly. Had it been made posthumously, with the same sort of access, I would probably have thought it was amazing.

I loved it right up until the point, right at the end where....I suppose I'll spoiler it, but it's not really that kind of film

once he'd been released by the police, the first thing he did was shag a random groupie who came up to him...despite the fact he had a girlfriend who'd flown all the way out there to see him. He then just excuses it in some psuedo philosophical way that selfish cnuts often use to dismiss their behavior

After that I actually felt a little let down...cos up until that point I had nothing but admiration for the man...He did exactly what he wanted to do and (up until then) hurt no one in the process. There was a certain elegant beauty to it all

Great film though

That didn't bother me in the slightest. At the end of the day he was taking insane risks. Whatever explanation he gave, you had to take it on face value. He wouldn't be doing what he did if the reasons behind it weren't sincere. He was walking talking proof of having the courage of your convictions.

Bit of a pompous arse though, I agree.

I thought it was amazing. The cops interview who went up there to get him off was brilliant:

I observed the tightrope 'dancer'—because you couldn't call him a 'walker'—approximately halfway between the two towers. And upon seeing us he started to smile and laugh and he started going into a dancing routine on the high wire....And when he got to the building we asked him to get off the high wire but instead he turned around and ran back out into the middle....He was bouncing up and down. His feet were actually leaving the wire and then he would resettle back on the wire again....Unbelievable really....Everybody was spellbound in the watching of it.

The bit were he was lying down on it completely blew my mind also.....
