No need to downplay Messi's achievement. Yes he is surrounded by brilliant players, however, the way he plays, takes and creates chances, its unique

That saying, I cant stand that little dirty, cheating fecker... amazing player mind!
 
He was very good yesterday and made his second goal look so easy. It's like the finish was no effort to him whatsoever. Fantastic little player. He really is.

It's become typical of him to score goals with effortless style.The way he has developed composure in front of the goal is impressive.

Don't want to get into the Ronaldo vs Messi debate, but I really don't think there is that much difference between Messi and Ronaldo. He is better than him, but not by a big margin.

Not really. TBF He has never lacked that. His debut goal for Barca was concrete proof. He had shown this deadly ice in veins even at age group level for the Argies too. The best thing that happened to him was over coming the injury woes that messed up his first to Barca seasons. Being fitter benefited his goal tally loads.

But failed to retain the CL, which is the one thing I really really really hoped Barca wouldn't do (because United couldn't do it the year before).

No one is doubting he's had a good year...

I disagree Chief.Even his first goal was cool, in his debut years he was never that composed when facing the keeper as I've seen him panic a little bit when given great chances.I didn't say he lacked composure either, it's just that it has reached a really high level now.

The difference with Messi is that as with the majority of players he is improving his all round game year on year. Another major factor over the last 2 seasons we've seen him drift inside a lot more. He's started many more games through the middle and will almost always play as a striker at some stage in all the games.

He is no longer played primarily on the right. Therefore he has found himself with the freedom to get himself into positions and what do you know he's found the net a rediculous amount of times.

The other thing is his all round game hasnt been diminished, he is still creative and still has a high assists total too. He's sensational.

All his 47!!!!!!! goals.

I remember when Messi fanbois used to paint Ronaldo being played in the middle as some kind of negative thing that should be counted against him.

Not really. He didnt get as many assists but he was still one of the main creative forces in the side. Of course when he is getting on the end of things he wont be setting them up but even in the last couple of games where he has scored goals he's set up plenty of team mates. He's a little more selfish this season but his assist for Pedro was outstanding and the week before he set up Bojan for a tap in and he missed after great play.

He has 4 fewer assists and 9 goals more than last season.

Na it was just the season at United where Ronaldo was free to play where ever and he got his greatest goals tally but offered really little in the way of contribution outside of his remarkable goals talley. He had less than 5 assists that season.

Messi has been afforded that sort of freedom yet can still contribute in a greater way to the team whilst scoring even more goals and still getting his fair share of assists.

Right, now Messi is the only player who improves. Ronaldo has clearly not adapted to a new league, not scored almost a goal a game, not done anything to contribute to Madrid's 96pt season. :rolleyes:

Did I mention Messi failed to win the Champs League in his incredible season? Ronaldo did in 07/08 you know.

The average quality of the goals is ridiculously high.

If he stays injury free, he will go down as the best since Maradona comfortably.

yes, i'm going to lock this thread, the season is over, Messi has equalized Fat Ronaldo's record, proving he is about to become one of the best players of all times and that Cal? makes no sense at all
