Leftfield penalty takers

This Ronaldo/Bruno thing is bullshit. They’re both penalty alpha males and competing for the right to take pens is making them both over-think and feck up (happening in open play too but let’s not go there)

I therefore think we need to have a new, leftfield penalty taker. I vote for Harry Maguire. His penalty technique is glorious. Either him or Fred.

Any other players at any other clubs stepped out of the shadows to take over penalty duties from bigger stars?

He was pretty good too. I think he missed one against Sheffield United in the cup and never took another one, Irwin and Cantona taking over.

Denis Irwin was the best at them.

When Irwin was our penalty taker there was no drama. Probably helped that Cole and Ole didn't care about taking pens to pad out their numbers or end a drought whereas today it is like it has to be a forward to get the headlines.

I wouldn't argue against Maguire taking them on the evidence so frar.

Is there a better penalty taker than Mata? Glorious. We should change the rules in the EPL and allow teams to sub on a player for penalty and then take him off again. Remember Clive Allen being recruited by an NFL team yonks ago to do the kicking

Wouldn't it be a bit much to sub someone like Jones, just to bring Maguire on to take a pen?
