Its a beauty.

And only reason I bought it was cuz I got my first paycheck.

I for one cant get rid of my iPhone as it is a godsend, but the blackberry messenger is something that makes me drool. The one time it is good is if everyone has it, and in Kuwait, EVERYONE has it.

Plan is: Purchase pay as you go sim card from Orange and activate blackberry service and voila. Do not need any of the other features. Silly, i know, but you gotta do something silly with your first paycheck.

Strange thing is, its out worldwide EXCEPT THE UK. Those mobile guys havent even heard of the Blackberry Tour, like it doesnt exist.

I assure you, it does.

Could not give up my iPhone, but Blackberry tops Nokia 97 in my opinion.

Only flaw with the Tour is that it - get ready for it - does not have WiFi!

Yes, that was a -WTF MATE IN AN AUSTRALIAN ACCENT- moment. Everything is Wifi enabled, even my feckin shoes are connected to router these days.

Heard theres a blackberry Onyx though in the pipeline, havent googled it yet, any kind soul wanna do that in the meantime?

Should have gone for that now that I think about it ...

I hate the ball tracking thing.

I hate buying a new phone. There's just so many options available now I don't know what to buy. My contract is up soon, I was thinking of going for the n97, then someone told me to get the iphone, now its blackberry

Right, these are the main things I want my phone to have:

1) Emails - I need quick access to my work emails. I know most phones can do that now, but I need the quickest

2) Internet - again, quick access to the internet. I dont know how this is done or what features are required for this. 3G, wifi, I don't know what they mean. Like I said, all I need is quick, 24/7 internet access. I don't want to be somewhere where I cant connect to the internet because i'm not in a '3g' zone of whatever the feck, it needs to be on all the time (If thats possible). Also, the broswer needs to be easy to use, For example, the browser in the Nokia e71, I dont like it. The iphone broswer, or the nokia n97 broswer, I like them!

3) Roaming charges - I'll be travelling to europe quite a bit, so I need my phone to work abroad and at low costs. I guess that depends on the network

4) GPS - is this the thing that know where you are? If so, I need it

5) Battery life - I don't want to be charging my phone every night (Like the iphone). The longer the battery life, the better

Right, So, what phone would be best for me??

I love my 8900, I am not a big fan of the new trackpad, i just love the 'ball' too much....

I think you're a blackberry / iphone candidate. Work emails are a priority and both supply them at ease. The rest depends on if you're a touch screen fan or not.

agreed though the iPhone seems to have a short battery life due to the use of many fun/useful/useless applications.

as far as a travelling companion maybe a blackberry is more practical. I'm in sort of the same boat, I need a new phone since I've lost mine and now have to buy a phone full price. Blackberry is about 500 and the iphone around 600-700.

You can rectify the whole battery issue with iphone by switching off things here and there, for example.

1. You dont need 3g on all the time. Same goes for bluetooth and Wifi.

2. Kill processes that are running when not needed (e.g ipod when you exit it, safari etc.)

3. Push mail to your inbox less frequently.

4. Decrease screen brightness (which does wonders by the way)

5. If all goes to pish, hit airplane mode. I aint joking, I flew from Kuwait to the Uk (5 hour flight) and it only used 3 - 5 % of my battery life with my ipod on throughout.

So its possible to help slow that down, though not eliminate it entirely.

Why does everyone want massive phones these days? I want my phone to be as thin and as light as possible, without sacrificing usability and durability too much. I could never have an iPhone or a blackberry. It would just fall out my pocket and get in the way, but i guess you all have man bags, or in Elvis's case, a fanny pack, so i guess its not a problem

i have an n97... im very happy with it and the camera is a lot better than the i-phone... which my mrs has and even she (avid apple fan) now admits is not as good as my n97...

blackberrys are too work orientated for a personal phone imo...

n97 on vodaphone... you can get vodaphone passport so its pretty cheep abroad plus you can log into any wireless networks as well which cuts down the cost of surfing abroad as well...

good phone and im happy with it

My phone, as well as the chosen device of James Bond. Thin, durable and light, as well as having a decent camera and being able to txt, make phone calls, and play music and tetris. It does it all.

Ezee: camera wise you're right, iPhone doesn't come close, but to tell me that the n97 tops the iPhone in terms of functionality and services is ridiculous. The app store by itself is enough of a reason to get it, the things you can download are near infinite, whilst if you get cydia that number is easily doubled.

Biscuit: if it's good enough for James bond .... :p
however short of wiping my arse with it and shaving my armpits, there is probably nothing I don't utilise with my iPhone, so Its useful for more than playing tetris and playing music in my case.

I have to agree that buying a new phone is a bit daunting. Most of the features you mention are now available on smartphones from several manufacturers, and I can guarantee that in a few months' time you'll probably be wishing that you waited to get a newer model. Happened with me when I got my HTC diamond in April, and now just a few months later there are Android phones on the market like HTC Dream and Magic, the new iPhone, the Palm Pre, etc.

Yes but your iPhone is the size of a casio calculator and i really don't think i could carry one of those around in my pocket.

No, the photo is quite a bit larger than the actual phone. About 2 or 3 centimetres taller, and the rest of the dimensions are in relation.

I'm with you biscuit. I bought a Nokia E66 in February and I love it. It's sleek, good looking, very well built and most importantly, it does anything anybody could ever need from a phone. Oh, and for anybody referring to their phone as "my iphone" or "my blackberry" instead of "my phone": you must die.

Just bought a Bold 9000 fortnight ago, wouldnt change it for the world now, Surfing, Emails using BIS, chatting via ICQ,MSN, Facebook & Myspace the list is endless what you can do with it I also use it as my MP3 player now and a nice little touch is the proximity sensor in the case that switcges the screen and keyboard off when the phone is in the case.

But its my iPhone ... It is just that.

Its like asking me to refer to my chair as "Pete" instead of my chair.
