Chelsea (the saviours of football) fan.
He passed away today. Heart attack apparently.

Directed The Breakfast Club, Weird Science, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Planes, Trains & Automobiles and Uncle Buck (and many more).

:(

Bizarrely, I was listening to an Adam and Joe podcast today where they took the piss out of him. Though maybe it's less bizarre and more mundane.

Home Alone is fantastic for what it is, as is Ferris Bueller', Planes, Trains, and Uncle Buck.

He'll be sadly missed (though maybe not by Adam and Joe).

Ferris Bueller's Day Off
Planes Trains and Automobiles
Home Alone 1+2
National Lampoon's Vacation/European/Christmas Vacation
Uncle Buck

Wow, lots of my favourite films.

RIP :(

His films were formulaic and often trite but you can't deny that many of his films were very entertaining and many of his films epitomise the 80s. He also wrote a huge number of films like Some Kind Of Wonderful that were also big hits.

He did some great films, Planes, Trains and Automobiles is my favourite comedy ever, its genius.

RIP.

Yeah just saw this on Sky News. Sad. Some seriously good films. They all remind me of the fun I had as a kid. A sad loss

seriously loved Some Kind of Wonderful when i was a young slip of a lad.

RIP.

Yep. Remember reading a great editorial in Sight and Sound in defense of the man's films some years ago. And how these films have as big an impact on us as the likes of 2001 etc. Just because he made family films with a sentimental edge didn't mean he wasn't a good film maker or maker of good films.

Everyone loves Planes Trains... but something like Home Alone is much darker and smarter than some give it credit for.

A legend as far as I'm concerned.

He wrote, directed and produced stories of ordinary people that has left a lasting mark on a generation.

For me, Pretty in Pink and Ferris Bueller were exceptional films.

RIP.
