'If this continues I'm done with United for the season!' Really?

What would it genuinely take for you to not watch Manchester United?

What is happening is already enough. As long as he's here, there's nothing to watch as far as I am concerned. Not because we're not good. Because we're acting like a bunch of idiots.

You'd be happy with having a owner with enormous human rights violations under their wing so you wouldn't have to feel annoyed?
Anyone supporting Ole Gunner Glazer should really not be throwing stones in their pathetic glass house.

The reason people are feeling this way is because you adored countryman doesn't have the self-awareness to realise he's no good and won't leave the money bag on the table

Will always watch but its a struggle to get any enjoyment out of it and has been for a while now. Even last season on this great away form run it was a crap watch. Always going a goal down and scraping wins has now festered in to what we are seeing now.

I would have been through with them if the super league proposal had gone through initially. I have been a fan since 89 but that would have been too much.

Honestly I can see football for what it is these days, it doesn’t mean what it used to mean to me anymore.

Seems to be a common sign off to posts of late. How many of you saying it would actually see that through?

Admit it: you're here to see the car crash and watch the fallout with the rest of us!

What would it genuinely take for you to not watch Manchester United?
I was working for the City game. Have it recorded but didn't watch it so ... apparently this is enough for me to not watch United.
I'll be back watching the next game i expect but it doesn't help that were pretty inept, its just painful to watch a lot of the time. Going into the season expecting a title challenge and for that to be done and dusted in October isn't helping with my enthusiasm for whats looking like a fight for top 4. I just find it hard to care too much at the moment

Ronaldo coming back perked me up a bit purely for the nostalgia but it's just been a downward spiral since Jose's 2nd season for me and Ole's 'United DNA' nonsense and the whole 'Ole in vs Ole out' divide has left me pretty numb. I never bought into Ole's vision and always thought it would end badly even with the top 4 finishes but it kind of feels like i'm watching the tragedy unfold until the bitter end.

I wish the Glazers would go and a manager would come in who didn't harp on about the past but implemented his own vision for the club and the style of football he wanted.

Spot on mate and well done for sticking him in his place about the Ole love

I didn’t watch the derby. Not planning to watch the matches till Ole is sacked. I hate watching us play at this stage, shit on a stick football with biweekly humiliation.

A bit of a shame cause I really would have liked to watch Ronaldo’s zenith, and we have some very exciting young players. But enough is enough.

For context, I didn’t reach this stage with any of the previous three managers. This is worse than Moyes at his worst.

If we don't sack Ole, that means the season's a write-off, so it's hard to be passionate knowing that there's nothing waiting for you at the end of the season.

I might get a bit excited about the top four run at this point, but most games lose that must win intensity for me. I'll show up and watch as if it's Burnley v Villa or whatever. No joy or no particular sadness.

I dunno, maybe I'll root for some of our younger players to do well and celebrate if Greenwood / Amad / Hannibal begin tearing it up.

I'm no longer planning my weekend around Man Utd games, I watch the majority of games but I've learned to not take it too seriously anymore. It is much easier to laugh at what the club has become. We will always have the great memories. I will always support the club but if the owners don't care about results then why should I?

This. I'll continue watching for the most part, but I'm not going to drop everything I'm doing.

This. I'm not done with Utd/football at all because I and many still think we have a great squad/foundation to achieve better things. It's that hope that keeps me going.

Hi Ole. To be honest, I think you need to take a share of the blame even with an incompetent board.

You're right but I used to be a massive Dallas Cowboys fan, and the connection does eventually erode after years and years of cynical mismanagement. Maybe that makes me a plastic fan (or whatever the term is) but it's the reality in my case.

I won’t go out of my way to watch the games until Ole is gone, when club has total apathy and fans get treated like idiots who will lap up nonsense peddled by the manager and the club it’s just a waste of time.

We all know what’s coming with Ole but because everyone is too incompetent to do anything about it we’ve all got to waste even more time, personally have better things to do.

A little weird to attack me for asking that question but ok.

This is a very easy answer for me.

Either you support the team regardless of whats going on in the club (ie: the players on the pitch), or you're simply just a fan for the good times.

People who only rise to support the team when they play well are nothing but bandwagon fans. It's fine to be pissed off about the state of the club, but take a note from the matchgoing fans, they never stop making noise, sun or rain.

In essence, what you are saying is if you pay for something, you should not expect good quality. If you received an under performing product you would return it. Why should a football club get away with producing absolute dross in return for money?

Why do people seem to forget that people actually pay to watch football? You're acting like the players and club are doing it out of the goodness of their own hearts. I have seen some posts calling people being 'entitled' because they want to watch entertaining football. That is pretty much the same as saying we should be thankful to the footballers for getting paid loads of money and performing like trash.

Being a supporter does not mean bending over at every opportunity.

I think you're misunderstanding my post, or not reading as a response to OP.

I write that its fine to by unhappy about the situation. What I find distasteful is not supporting the lads on the pitch regardless.

It would take me Saudis owners to stop watching United and caring about the team winning. I don't think I'll stop watching the team

Don't worry the geordies took that option of the table so you can carry on believing but I have checked out until he's sacked

If Rodgers comes to United I'm done. Not just for that season. If the club has no shame or pride at all, why should I then give a shit.

For now it's like a semi-dead relationship where you still care, but the lack of effort from your partner makes you ask yourself if it is worth any energy.

Quite honestly I'm that sick of this club I would take any takeover whatever their issues

Yeah I’d rather just finish 4th than see supporters with towels wrapped around their head celebrating a takeover.

I said it in another thread, we talk and spend like a top 5 club on the planet, but currently the club give zero fecks, why should we?

I booked in work for both the City and Liverpool games, as I've zero interest in watching the club go through the motions and waste away another season. For all the spin in the World, if we're honest we saw early doors that Ole was never going to be able to compete with Klopp and Pep, but we continued the quite frankly ridiculous experiment regardless cause Ole and Mickey Shorts are Fergie's mates. Now after wasting 2 full seasons already it's become in your face blindingly obvious that we're actual getting further away from Klopp and Pep, amongst others (Tuchel) also. For the club not to act, I can't bring myself to give a shit about watching games.

I care still, I check results, I'll post on the caf, I still want us to qualify from the CL group.

If we spend like Villa though, I'd expect a top 10 fight and wouldn't feel the same, we but don't, so we shouldn't.

I didn’t get up for the City game and I won’t be watching Watford with him in charge. A win means more shit performances and a prolonged period with him at the helm making a mess of things.

A loss? Well, a loss will always be even more painful. The Liverpool game actually hurt.

He is clueless and there isn’t any redeeming quality to him still being here. Why watch?

I pretty much just watch our games passively now. Its not as entertaining watching anymore, and I think its because the board is alienating the fans with their poor choices and Oles poor tactics and management of the team.

What would stop me from following the team for good is if it got bought by a sheik/oil country.

I went to the gym instead of watching the Manchester derby. Knew it would be shit, and needed the exercise. Did not regret the decision.

I'll always watch us, just it's nicer to watch when you have hope and you're not completely disconnected/apathetic to the performance and result. Also far less likely to put up a fuss to the missus when she wants to do things during the games.

Time for some self reflection mate if those are real priorities.

How about those yankee leeching scumbags reflect on how they are destroying this fanbase and your bloody countryman who isn't willing to pass on money for the good of this club and his pride is getting in the way far too much

There is noone else to replace Ole. I think the only way the club will sack him is if there are protests. Even then we'll get some clown in as a stopgap. Grim times for sure.

It's the first season in many (bar COVID of course) that I wont be visiting OT. Gutted too as I love going and soaking in the atmosphere, as well as see Ronaldo play live.

Will still watch every game when televised though. I'm sure if we manage some miraculous run in the CL then those doubters will come flooding back.

I fell out of love with football years ago. It's basically all I did with all my free time from about 9 18.

They money killed most of what I loved about football off the pitch and has had a debatable effect on the game itself. So for me when Jose landed I found I needed a break. His toxicity on top of everything else was a tipping point.

When I was a kid my parents and I were driving down the freeway and we passed a car that was on fire. As we got closer to it we could see the driver was trapped and was literally being burned to death. There was way too much traffic to stop. I couldn’t help but turn to take a long look as we drove away.

Similar situation now.
Jesus Christ

I cant speak for anyone else, but for me its about priorities things that is going on in my life. I have 2 small children and working myself up in the world. I have limited time and have to juggle every decision i do to make it work out.

I understand theres a lot of young or single people on this forum.

But when you (hopefully) are in same position, you would know you have to priorities in live.

Football is a get away for me, have a cold one and enjoy the game. Atm i dont do that so how can you blame me for prioritise more important things?

Nothing would ever stop me completely, but it also shouldn't be a chore. Watching united get humiliated and outplayed really ruins my day.

But do all the players deserve support? Some of them seem pretty lazy. If they are not willing to put in the effort, why should people put in the effort to support them?

It is the same thing for our football in general: why would people keep supporting and watching if it is boring to do so?

There are two main things that kill my enthusiasm to support the club: firstly, the laziness of the players; secondly, being so mind-numbingly boring to watch. At the moment, I don't really see much point in spending time watching and supporting the team when these two things are true.
