How long until Ole's signings also join the deadwood list?

How can every single player we sign turn out sht. How? Not a single player in 600 billion spent has turned out to be a top top player. De Gea is one but he has lost it as well. Even if the recruitment is sht and Woodward is sht and the managers are sht surely one of them would turn out to be a superstar. Fkn cursed.

Ridiculous thread. The amount of pleasure some of our "fans" are taking in slating everything Ole does is ridiculous.

And it doesn't alter the principle of this thread being total bollocks as the three signings are easily three of our better players. AWB and Maguire are at a level showing up Shaw and Lindelöf (our player of the year and my player of the year last season), James came in as a squad option and has become an integral part of the starting 11 within 3 months.

You could argue that Ole is not the best tactician out there (although I doubt anyone would have their tactics right with these players) but when it comes to signings and giving youth a chance he's actually doing well. Even if he wasn't our manager anymore I wouldn't mind him as a part of recruting staff, he can pick players, I don't doubt that.

Players become superstars through coaching, we are not cursed but relatively poorly coached.

Maguire is not a bad player. He's just overrated by the virtue of being English. If his name had been Maguireux and he'd been Belgian, he would have cost a third of what he did, and we wouldn't have given him the armband.

With the way the current team is playing, a lot of our players are being set up to fail. This United team by far the most poorly coached.

No passing patterns and players have no chemistry. You can tell that even simple things like corner and throw-in drills are not worked on the training ground. Our throw-ins are basically just throwing it at someone. Corners - hit it at the tallest player.

You should apply for EUFA coaching license.

It boils down to shit coaching, different managers forcing different ideologies and players becoming complacent

Strange bump of my post from more than 2 months ago. And my point still stands. You don't need a coaching license to know our throw ins are shite. Just look at the second goal yesterday. Came directly from our own throw in.:wenger:

Not this season at least.

If Ole stays on you would assume not next either. Maybe if he doesn't. The clubs seemingly new direction in looking at players character rather than reputations is standing us in good stead.

This thread is such a fun read! Less hate around now, 7 weeks later though....

We see this with all our managers post Ferguson. The 'manager shits gold' lot overpower all the dissent at the start of this cycle, as the new set of signings become our saviours from the old useless squad members.

Then eventually you start seeing increasing dissenting voices highlighting the players weaknesses. They start to overpower the 'manager shits gold' lot. We're already seeing signs of this now with AWB and Maguire threads. Eventually most get fully engrained into the deadwood listing by the time the next manager is in place. In between all this, some of the remaining 'manager shits gold' lot will transfer the blame onto Woodward for signing the players.

I reckon by the end of the season, all 3 of Oles signings will be on course to make it.

We're getting there. Patience is slowly wearing thin for Maguire and (especially) AWB.

Just need the manager shits gold cult to start blaming Woodward for signing these players instead for PR/selling shirts and all that stuff.

James may as well already be deadwood, as most don't even think he's good enough to be back up.

So how's the whole character thing going as Ole's £80m captain got arrested in Greece and his £50m RB got himself quarantined after going to Dubai?

He probably wouldn't have been in consideration for us

 Just waiting on Bruno being discovered trading arms.

Bruno has been class, VDB has been in 5 minutes, AWB is an awesome tackler and will get better, he’s still young and although he has the odd bad game I think it’s unfair to call him deadwood, last season our goals against was comparable to anyone else, just slightly behind City and Pool and to be honest we were probably only a few goalkeeping mistakes away from city and pool. Maguire has been decent just not on a Rio or Vidic Level but apart from one or two in the league who is?
Let’s judge Solskjaer and the board in 6 weeks when the dust settles the window isn’t shut yet.

Maguire isn’t deadwood but he’s not top level quality. I’m disappointed in his performances lately too but no point in trying to replace him yet. Lindelof is closer to the axe in my opinion. (Where is Tuanzebe?)

AWB isn’t deadwood either but sooner or later we’ll have to upgrade on him. Defensively he’s good, but it’s his level going forward that’s lacking. I noticed that our fullback play is highly integral to our success so that’s my reasoning. Nothing to rush if you ask me.

Daniel James, on the other hand, is deadwood, or at least will inevitably be deadwood. If you can’t dribble past a defender, then you have no business playing forward let alone for a top club. Would rather have Lingard over him because at least he actually can pull some moves out of nowhere every now and again.

I think Maguire could be so much better with a solid, ball playing centre half partner, and it should’ve been a priority this window along with a right winger.

James for me clearly has technical ability but perhaps just needs to find his game a bit more and settle into a squad role. Too much pressure on him from the start.

AWB is the best right back we’ve had in absolutely ages.

VdB looks good.

Bruno is world class.

It’s not the manager who negotiates the transfer fee now is it? Nor the player for that matter.

...

He's learning on the job like every other sod at the club it seems.

Bet Donny is sat there thinking

"what the hell have I done"

Leaving a very good team like Ajax to join our rotten club.

After last season, I had doubts about Maguire but I've now moved on to seeing him as a liability. He isn't worth half of what we paid.

Wan Bissaka and James will definitely join the list IMO. Not enough quality there. Maguire can be decent enough when he gets his shit together again, but his head doesn't seem right at the moment. Bruno is fine of course. Van De Beek is good. Telles will be good.

Poor coaching and set up at the club.

The Bruno lift has gone so we're back to the same half arsed club.

I still think there's enough about Maguire to work with, but he's far from perfect and Lindelof and Bailly alongside him are even worse.

The more I see of Wan Bissaka the less I like and James is nowhere near the standard.

They're already on the deadwood list except Bruno

Absolutely shocking.

£80m priced deadwood  Good luck trying to get your money back. Even maybe the half of that amount. Also another £50m for a RB who can't control & pass the ball. But "it's not my money" so we should all support throwing money hysterically to solve the issues we never had. We should also act hysterically again and make Ole our DoF after he gets the sack as a manager as he's the one who made these brilliant signings. He knows what he's doing apparently.

The worst thing is this is not even in hindsight. Anyone with a half brain could see we were clearly making a huge mistake by making this clown the most expensive defender ever. Making him captain after a couple of months was another disgraceful decision by the manager. But the likes of Smalling, Rojo etc. were blamed to no end as if they were the real problem and replacing them will solve it. I wonder what Smalling, Rojo etc. are thinking right now.

Wait weren't the likes of James, AWB and Maguire the best signings since Fergie?

Some even called for Ole to become DoF because of him unearthing those gems.

With the benefit of hindsight, when did all three of Slabhead, James and AWB first hit the deadwood list?

The fact that they are becoming deadwood should mean you're progressing in fairness. It's not like James got worse, we just didn't need him any more. I'm starting to think the same of AWB.
