How big a priority has rebuilding our attack become?

We need players in every area but the attack is the biggest priority followed closely by the midfield

I would switch those two around but we absolutely need DM & ST then someone who can provide midfield spark too

It's a fair take tbh. The sure thing is that one area cannot be neglected, we need 4-5 players in total. Whether those players include those will return from loan is another subject

It’s gone from our strongest area at the start of the season to a weakness, but improving the midfield is still the #1 issue.

Yeah has been since Keane left in terms of DM and Carrick retired in terms of CM

We need a new no.9, and an actual specialist RW.

In all honesty there’s no one position in our side that couldn’t be improved. But I’d say the priority list is like:
DM > Striker > RW > CM > RB/CB

Agree with this though I'd go DM > RW > Striker.

Personally I think between Rashford and Martial we have two players that would be good as a striker, they just need time and the right manager to get them back into form. We're certainly not going to get anyone better for under £60m anyway.

Given our lack of fire power up top, could Joe Hugill not be brought into the squad. Not as a starter obviously but giving him some game time wouldn't really hurt us given our lack of goals currently. Cavano isn't trustworthy this year and Ronny is off the boil. Maybe a bit of youthful exuberance would be the way to go. The lad would definitely finish some of the chances we've wasted recently.

We’re talking about missed chances and not being able to score recently in these games against bad teams. but I think that’s just a mental block with all that’s gone on this season. The midfield is just so bad, and anytime we go up against even halfway decent opposition they look like they are having a training session against this team. We can’t even get out our own half because the quality of the midfield and the reluctance to play through it. I don’t care how many attacking players we buy, that alone is not the fix. Look at how this team was playing early in the season with all the attacking depth still available.

It’s a huge issue, we need a RW and a striker just as much as we need two new midfielders. If Ronaldo wants Champions League football and leaves we may need another player as well, huge job ahead for the new manager.

I hope we bring in new playes rather than make mistake of bringing Martial back, he actively sought a move away so no point bringing him back to be in exactly same situation he was desperate to get away from.

 This is wrong
It doesn't interest anyone with common sense I should have said. Their fanbois will never stop for sure.

If Ronaldo wants CL and he keeps missing all these chances till the end of the season then really he'll be welcome to leave for me.

Which is where Juve have made absolute mugs of us. Lumbering us with 37 year old Ronaldo and replacing him with 22 year old Vlahovic.
Seriously - almost like their football recruitment folk know something!

What’s the point of controlling the midfield if you have nobody to finish chances? Signing a clinical centre forward is the number one priority this summer.

Just watching the City Utd game from 1993! Just wow! Watching Hughes all guts and glory! What a player he was. Need him and Cantona clones back in our team.

Yeah maybe so but doesn't mean we need to absolutely break the bank for one. Time to show some shrewdness for first time in god knows how many years.

For those doubting Ronnie would go, don’t you think a return to Sporting would tempt him if they again qualify for the CL? Lots of teams would want him; especially Milan, the Turkish clubs etc. He’ll be more effective in slower leagues.

I want Rangnick to go upstairs with a Gordon Ramsay esque evaluation of what these feckers have built in the "cultural reboot"

Yeah and appropriate comparison because apparently we are kitchen nightmares as well looking at those food shortages other week

We really have got ourselves into a horrific position, haven’t we?

His legs may be gone, but Matic showed yesterday for 60 minutes why signing a new DM is so important. He controlled the game in a way that none of our other midfielders can.

I don’t blame the board for the situation with our forwards. Nobody could have foreseen the Greenwood situation and the shitness of our attackers. But their is absolutely no reason why a DM could not have been bought in January.

The boards reluctance to spend money in January has given the next manager an almost impossible task in the summer.

Good shout. They love their share of old strikers. It's a question of if they can afford his wages and if we are ruthless enough to offload "our boy"

Yes and no. People need to realise that goals don't just magically appear by having good forwards. Look at the Watford game yesterday, we created an abundance of chances because we were able to control the midfield and play high up the pitch & therefore be closer to their goal. We can't use Matic week in week out and we keep playing our £85m captain who forces us to play waaaay deeper to accommodate his fridge-like movement. We have bought attacker after attacker after attacker ever since Fergie retired and we've not scored many goals. Either you assume every attacker for the last decade has been useless or you realise that the main issue is our inability to get into attacking positions in the first place due to our defence & midfield. We definitely do need to recruit forwards now that Greenwood is out of the picture, Cavani is finished, Rashford is finally being exposed & Martial may be leaving too. Just be aware that if we blow our whole budget on forwards then we'll just keep going backwards whilst the rest of the team rots.

Yeah a younger Matic would definitely make a difference in there and Edi choosing when he plays is really hurting us.

Let's be honest we haven't had a properly balanced squad since 2009 which is utterly unforgivable.

So now we are in a situation where this squad could need as much as 7 players just to compete for Champions League football.

Ronny will not play in Europa League nor Kane

I think they would. I don’t think Ronnie will leave. Where else would he go? In Europe? Maybe sporting?

Kane could be interested in coming here, it’s a step up from Tottenham I’d say. He won’t go to another London club, and a lot will ride on if city go for haaland.

Yeah shit for brains in our boardroom

Will hold my hands up I didn't expect Edi to feature quite so little and then of course who saw the Mason thing coming either. Looks very stupid letting Martial go out on loan in that situation.

martial didn’t want to be here and gave nothing for a long time now. Him going on loan and doing well so we can sell him and get some money for him was the best option.

Not if we miss out on CL. Martial showed he was still willing to contribute when called upon in his final showing against West Ham just before leaving & if we miss out on the CL money, the allure of the CL to new signings & to sponsorships then that will dwarf any money we get from selling Martial.

I see it as exciting as much as I do concerning. Everyone keeps talking about how this squad is not up to it. We now find ourselves approaching a point where its not about the club choosing to go in another direction, we have to.

We've shown utd are capable of keeping clean sheets and defending well enough. But attacking is a great defense itself. And sadly it's are completely horrific in that, its the whole reason we fall apart.

We will realistically need to spend well over £200 million this summer, but can anybody actually see the Glazers doing that?

With Ronaldo, Cavani and Greenwood all likely to be gone come the summer I cannot see Martial leaving whether he wants to or not.

With the loss of Greenwood and Rashford having been Space Jam-d, it's become a lot more important than it seemed at the end of the summer transfer window

Yeah and Edi playing when he feels like it

I personally feel attacking wise we are stacked already, the problem is we have so many out of form and poor players.

Ronaldo scored from more difficult angles last year but this year he’s missing sitters same with bruno. Rashford I don’t have any hope he needed to be replaced surely with Amad or a promising academy player.

If Ronaldo gets his form back, we will sign only 1 CF for cavani replacement and recall Martial(based on loan performance) and loan out rashford.

The squad size looks neat and simple now, so we should continue with current replacments and not again bloat this squad.
I think Ronaldo is done at this level. He should leave. He isn’t getting younger, and there is very good possibility he’ll get worse next season. Rashford has subpar for almost two whole seasons now. He also seems to have lost his hunger, looking at the way he plays games recently.

We absolutely need a striker going into next season. Arguably a winger as well who can compete with Sancho, Elanga, Rashford and Amad.
Even then, we won’t have any backup striker if Martial leaves.
