Harry Maguire

Didn't stop Liverpool buying their left-back. Seeing as they're desperate for a central defender it seems borderline negligent that Liverpool signed Robertson but overlooked Maguire.
I guess LB was of a higher priority to them. Not saying they shouldn't have signed him, just saying it's understandable that they didn't if they felt Robertson was more needed.

Certainly looks solid, and has had decent fortune that Huth has been injured allowing him to slot straight in.

Now he's in, it'll take a big job to displace him.
Would like to see more of him in games that the centre backs actually move more than 2cm from their goal line though

Maguire and Keane both two solid CB transfers in the PL you should have been all over. Your scouting seems like shit or rather Klopp has failed to identify alternative targets to his first choice.

Likewise for DM, plenty of options out there like Romeu or N'Zonzi, yet no activity from you. I know you originally tried for a b2b midfielder in Keita but imo this is where this fabled transfer committee of yours should step in, you need a DM no matter what the silly German thinks, and one should have been brought in.

Completely agree. I have no idea what are scouts do besides watching and maybe living in Southampton. Over a period of time, you'd think it would be cheaper to just employ their scouts.

Still got 6 days, let's see if we can get some business done. As out squad is at the moment, I honestly see us fighting for top 4 again and CL is going to be super tough..

For all the crave about Maguire, Mawson..., take notice how they were less impressive toward the end, when the game was opened up and there were more space for them to cover. Clubs who go for the win, would be subjected for leaving more space at the back.

For example, Lukaku chance seconds to the final whistle. Maguire clearly fell asleep when Leicester had to push up the pitch. Leicester at this point had nothing to lose. If it were at bigger club, it would prove to be much more costly since they may not goals down at that moment, but they had to push for better result. A mistake like that would mean losing not 2 points but all 3.

Agreed. He looks great when the unit is solid but I'm not sure how he would fare playing a much higher line.

Thought he made a number of mistakes that allowed us chances in the first half. He had a better second half though. Was overall disappointed by him given how much some of you had been praising him.

He's decent but nothing special. He barely moves from the goal line.

He is a massive lad and can carry and pass the ball quite well.. He deserves to be called up to England Panel....

He played against us in the 2011 FA Youth Cup Final against Pogba, Lingard and others...

Probably Sheffield United's best player over the two legs and I know United were looking at him around that time...perhaps a bit too raw and not the quality we were looking for at time.

To think many on here were claiming Smalling is as good on the ball as him?! He showed tonight what he can bring to a side that Smalling simply cannot. He has been impressing in the PL for two seasons now.

When I first saw him playing for Hull striding out with the ball it was almost surreal. He looks so comfortable doing it as well.

You're saying Liverpool but the same question could be asked of United when we went for you-know-who instead for 2 and half times the price.

At least United brought a player in. Lindeloff played pretty well tonight too. Liverpool put everything on VVD, didn't get him and brought no one in when this guy was available.

Ridiculous club

Looked a good player when we played Hull last season. Not a surprise he is doing well.

Should have had an assist tonight too setting up the chance that Lingard ballooned over at the end.

Far better at football than he looks like he should be

Looks like Steve Bruce but plays like Pallister

Wanted him to replace Smalling in the summer but would cost In the region of £35m + now and probably better players available for that price.

As good if not better than john stones wudnt be suprised if one of the top 4 bought him.

best CB we have had in years, would be perfect if Huth were fit and partnering him instead of Wes Morgan, wouldn't mind seeing him with Dragovic either

he sounds like one of those dodgy tradesmen that drink in your local and only do cash jobs. "I want get a deck put in my back garden", barman "see big Harry Maguire, he'll be in later, put my new kitchen in, great work and cheap"

I remember him being highly rated at Sheffield United playing in the FA Youth Cup final against us when Pogba, Lingard and Ravel were playing.

This fella is quality. So good on the ball. Kind of wish we signed him in the summer. Here’s hoping Lindelof can develop into a similar sort of player.
I'd expect Lindelof to develop into a much better player otherwise I'd really question the signing.

Really wanted him in the summer the big guy can play plus we need height in defence.

Yeah I’ve thought he was good since the semi-finals last season. He was waltzing through us at times.

If he was a bit more athletic he’d be some player.

Was going to bump this thread.

Absolutely terrific on the ball.

We've got Lindelof now, but in hindsight, Maguire would have been a fantastic buy to be our 'ball playing' centre back.
