We have no budget so I would expect us to match that. Some reports have the bid at £85million
Some reports have the bid at £85million
Really hope the Madrid reports are bollocks. Do think we'll have a great chance of signing him next summer.
Top of the list when it comes to Real Madrid's transfer targets is Gareth Bale, whose Premier League peers recently voted him the PFA Player of the Year. His value has skyrocketed in recent months, as always seems to happen whenever 'Los Blancos' come calling for a player.
Asking price aside, the club knows that clinching the Welshman's signature is going to be an uphill battle, not least because the Tottenham chairman, Daniel Levy, is a fierce negotiator. He will want to start talks at the €70-75 million mark, an amount Real is unwilling to shell out.
One of Bale's major appeals is his adeptness in several positions. As well as lining up at left-back or on either flank, he can also play off the striker, as he is currently doing for Spurs.
wonder how they will fund a bid of €85 mill...hmmm..
perhaps they may get most of that back by selling another winger..

Not sure that makes much sense. Presuming the reports are true and he's off, then if it's down to whether and when he's for sale, the answer is clearly now, so I don't see what next summer has to do with it? And if it's down to Bale's preference, then it seems he's mad keen on Madrid, so I don't see how that changes next summer either?
Real's unsettling machine is a disgrace.
I still think they will find Levy (over Bale) a much harder nut to crack than they think.
Because we ain't paying 80 million for Bale.
They always go about it the same way. Faces from the club flatter the player in the hope that he publicly states he wants a move. Then they can start negotiations - but its not just Levy they have to convince.
The Bale pursuit has been nothing short of embarrasing for Real Madrid. The likes of Zidane and Perez fluttering their eyelashes at him smacks of desperation. The fact that no bid has been forthcoming despite him being a top target tells me one thing - he doesnt want the move.
Bale seems like a pretty level headed bloke so I can see why he'd have doubts. People assume any player would jump at the chance but this last season proves what a circus the club is. Moving to a foreign country under that sort of pressure would be a lot for a 23 year old with a young family. I'd also take a look at how quickly some players find themsleves out of favour when there's an election to win and they need to sign the latest superstar appease the fans.
But we would next summer?
Why, in any way, would Real Madrid be 'embarassed' for doing what lands them their man damn near every time? It's pretty much a perfect tactic if works time and time and time again and is in no need of modification on their part. They always go about it the same way. Its public tapping up and they ought to be curbed. But it will never happen.
To be honest, I think the whole "tapping up" thing is a bit stupid. When did any player not get notified of and sounded out about a club's interest prior to an official approach to his current club? The only difference from one transfer to another is how publicly they do it or if they get reported.
What's the point in trying to keep it banned anyway, what difference does it make, apart form a chance for selling clubs to get on their high-horse about a nothing issue?
Bookmakers Coral now offering only 2/1 that Bale will be at Spurs start of this season.
£85m is it ? That's quite astonishing, especially given that they've already shelled out on other players this summer.

Do not want at all. Id rather take a chance on what looks like a fantastic crop of youngsters than sign bale.
