Gareth Bale Transfer Speculation | Done

Some reports have the bid at £85million

Really hope the Madrid reports are bollocks. Do think we'll have a great chance of signing him next summer.

Not sure that makes much sense. Presuming the reports are true and he's off, then if it's down to whether and when he's for sale, the answer is clearly now, so I don't see what next summer has to do with it? And if it's down to Bale's preference, then it seems he's mad keen on Madrid, so I don't see how that changes next summer either?

This was Marca back in May:

Top of the list when it comes to Real Madrid's transfer targets is Gareth Bale, whose Premier League peers recently voted him the PFA Player of the Year. His value has skyrocketed in recent months, as always seems to happen whenever 'Los Blancos' come calling for a player.
Asking price aside, the club knows that clinching the Welshman's signature is going to be an uphill battle, not least because the Tottenham chairman, Daniel Levy, is a fierce negotiator. He will want to start talks at the €70-75 million mark, an amount Real is unwilling to shell out.
One of Bale's major appeals is his adeptness in several positions. As well as lining up at left-back or on either flank, he can also play off the striker, as he is currently doing for Spurs.

AS back in June:

A week prior to that publication, AS said €90.

It's a circus and all of it smells like bullshit.

wonder how they will fund a bid of €85 mill...hmmm..

perhaps they may get most of that back by selling another winger..

Real's unsettling machine is a disgrace.

I still think they will find Levy (over Bale) a much harder nut to crack than they think.

They can unsettle him. Just means we can swoop in as soon as he says he wants to leave. We all know he'd prefer to come to United than Real.

Because we ain't paying 80 million for Bale.

They always go about it the same way. Faces from the club flatter the player in the hope that he publicly states he wants a move. Then they can start negotiations - but its not just Levy they have to convince.

The Bale pursuit has been nothing short of embarrasing for Real Madrid. The likes of Zidane and Perez fluttering their eyelashes at him smacks of desperation. The fact that no bid has been forthcoming despite him being a top target tells me one thing - he doesnt want the move.

Bale seems like a pretty level headed bloke so I can see why he'd have doubts. People assume any player would jump at the chance but this last season proves what a circus the club is. Moving to a foreign country under that sort of pressure would be a lot for a 23 year old with a young family. I'd also take a look at how quickly some players find themsleves out of favour when there's an election to win and they need to sign the latest superstar appease the fans.

Its public tapping up and they ought to be curbed. But it will never happen.

Mmm... sort of get what you're saying, but I still think that if he pushes for a move to Madrid this summer, then that means it was the only place he was ever going to end up either way.

Why, in any way, would Real Madrid be 'embarassed' for doing what lands them their man damn near every time? It's pretty much a perfect tactic if works time and time and time again and is in no need of modification on their part.

If Real Madrid want a player, they normally get that player. If Real Madrid really want a player, they always get that player. It's that simple. No player manages to resist the lure of the club which no other club in the world comes close to matching plus the fact that they are not afraid to bring out the checkbook to convince other clubs to sell.

To be honest, I think the whole "tapping up" thing is a bit stupid. When did any player not get notified of and sounded out about a club's interest prior to an official approach to his current club? The only difference from one transfer to another is how publicly they do it or if they get reported.
What's the point in trying to keep it banned anyway, what difference does it make, apart form a chance for selling clubs to get on their high-horse about a nothing issue?

Agents are the root cause of much of the shenanigans. However, the very public tapping up is in poor taste in my opinion and brings the game into disrepute. I hear what you are saying.

Summer of 2008. That's why public tapping up shouldn't happen. We had won the Champions League but most of the summer was spent listening to the Real propaganda machine on how they were about to sign our best player. Irritated me much more than when he actually left.

I'm starting to agree with those that think Twitter posts should only be allowed in the twitter thread.

I mean, what is the point in the above?

When it comes to transfer talk, twitter is like the tabloids on speed. Just think of a random combination of money and players and post it.

If they wanted Rooney plus cash for Bale, there'd already be a human chain of reds stretching from OT to WHL to personally carry him there.

Offer them Rooney if Spurs want him. He can either go to Spurs or stay. I'm sure he believes himself above Spurs though.

Bookmakers Coral now offering only 2/1 that Bale will be at Spurs start of this season.

£85m is it ? That's quite astonishing, especially given that they've already shelled out on other players this summer.

Do not want at all. Id rather take a chance on what looks like a fantastic crop of youngsters than sign bale.

Yes, but that figure is purely speculative and a rumour right now. Like the other one that Bale has handed in an official transfer request.

No one, even on Twitter, has a source' to back up either claim.

By and large I'm a big fan of buy em young and develop them here, but Bale is an exceptional player and has United star written all over him. I'd take him for any money.
