Gareth Bale Transfer Speculation | Done

And why wouldn't they be worried about us nicking their best players?

Haha, ok I'll be super pedantic and refer to the mentioning of RVP then

I think any ideas about signing bale this summer should be quickly forgotten...when daniel levy says a player is not for sale then that means he will keep them for another year before selling them for a huge profit 1 year later....otherwise he'd be at madrid already.....we have a chance of getting bale in a year when he will be on the market if spurs don't make the top 4 again

when are you gonna say that for claiming that United are top four rivals for Spurs?

It's not unthinkable that top 4 next season will consist of Spurs (league champions), West Ham, Fulham and Hull. Every season is a blank sheet and everyone will start from point zero.

Spurs finished on 72 points last season and finished 4th (on less points) the season before. So it's clearly a very good possibility that Spurs will be challenging for top 4 again - and maybe higher - this coming season.

And on the other hand, with the loss of Fergie apart from anything else, you probably won't do anything like as well as last season ... and it's entirely possible that your decline may be quite steep.

These two things makes you a rival for a top 4 place whether you like it or not. No amount of pointing to the past will change this. It's a now a new era.

Writing off Spurs as a top 4 challenger is ludicrous, however to say that United will fall from being champions to struggling to make the top 4 is equally ludicrous.

I bet you £300 that Spurs don't come within 10 points of United.

I don't make these sort of bets until the transfer window has closed ... when you can ask me again if you wish.

But Utd's transfer policy is a shambles. Perfect time to make yourself some easy money.

I thought United were in complete disarray and meltdown and can't even attract any top players anymore. Surely you don't need little things like a transfer window to win some easy money.

Very wise, looking back at the last few years. After all, in pretty much every season, Spurs have made some big name signings very late in the window, and United have made a few too.

I may need you expertise though - I'm trying to spot a specific correlation between the signings made and whether Spurs finished within 10 points of United. Can you help? Statisitics isn't my strong suit...

Did you? Then you'll have to point out the source of these thoughts and how they got in your head ... but I can't help you with this.

As I've said, it's now a new era ... whether you wish to acknowledge that or not is up to you.

The Madrid games have started again according to Sky Transfer Centre:

The front page of Madrid daily Marca features (not for the first time) Tottenham's Gareth Bale and the headline is 'Caliente, Caliente'. The hot, hot news is apparently that Bale has handed in a transfer request and that his agent Jonathan Barnett has already agreed terms with Real Madrid.

It's a slow news day/week/month so the circus needs fuel for the audience. Prior to the transfer window opening, they were throwing figures and statements left, right and centre.

I honestly won't care at all if he goes to Madrid. Better there than anyone else apart from us. Give it a year, and Ronaldo won't be happy for not being "the main man" in anymore, he'll most likely be joint with Bale.

Either way, Ronaldo and/or Bale won't be where they are currently by the start of the 14/15 season.

A lot of talk today of Bale wanting/agreeing a move to Madrid.
