Gareth Bale Transfer Speculation | Done

Well exactly it just goes round in circles. The only goal is to slag the other club off and not talk about something worthwhile. Glaston can be a smug twat but I still find the "my club is bigger than your club" themed response really boring and unnecessary, especially as in reality every fan in England knows we are a huge club. No need to ram it down people's throats at every opportunity.
No doubt it would be better to ignore him and hope he goes away but I can see why people react in the fashion they do. It's that or just call him a twat.

We're halfway through the transfer window. Perhaps criticism of our 'transfer policy' would be best left until it's over.

Your problem is that you can't seem to accept that criticism of your transfer policy under Moyes so far might actually be legitimate. So you go all defensive-aggressive, trot out a medals haul as if that's the end of all discussion and dismiss everything as "wumming".
I've mentioned trophies to you once.

The criticism of Moyes in the transfer market to date isn't valid. He's done little wrong so far, and it will only really be judgable when the window shuts. Press rumours and shit on Twitter are being ate up and spewed back out to beat the man, when so far we've no idea how this window will go for him. At the most, he's bid for 3 players. He's hardly running around groping desperately for signings the way you among others are making out.

You're still denying trying to stir shit in transfer threads, when it's clear what you're at. What interest does the Fabregas thread hold for you, other than to have a go at United and try and wind people up? You do it every year, and then disappear when it's clear we're challenging for trophies, again. It's ridiculously predictable.

To be honest, I, and most other fans, support our teams not because of the amount of trophies but because we're brought up to support them. It strikes me as being very odd to show off about how many trophies your team has won when a) you have nothing to do with their success and b) the reason some fans support their teams is because of the fact they've won a lot of trophies.

I have never understood the 'achievement' feeling in football. If Arsenal do well, great. If we don't, I'll still support them. The amount of trophies I have to show off about on an internet forum is of immense indifference to me.
How long have you felt like this?
I'd wager about eight years. ;)

Sorry. Am I doing this right?

Most of it is in response to these opposition fans trying to act the smart arse and the billy big balls over United, as if they have some claim to be able to ridicule United, when they'd bust their balls to be half as successful as we are. See Glaston, Pete etc in some of the transfer threads over the last few days. A Spurs fan and an Arsenal fan uniting to tell United fans that United are desperate, a joke and a laughing stock is only going to get one response. "Get your medals out".

Yeah I agree that any criticism over Moyes over transfers should definitely be left til the end of the window or at the start of the season.

Bang on. I find it odd that I have to defend Spurs but this is a big club with 40k supporters being treated like some non-league pub team.
Unlike United, how so far in this window have been labelled amateur, with a shit manager who doesn't know what he's doing, running around trying to sign players who wouldn't want to play for them because they're such a shit, two-bob club. The irony is nice.

The funniest things about his criticisms are that he's a Spurs fan. A team who's biggest weakness is up front and haven't been addressed as yet.

I don't think anyone's said much about Moyes which isn't speculation. I certainly won't be making any certain statements about his transfers until he actually makes some.

 Christ, what do you want him to do about it? Ring Levy and tell him to fix it? Are you not allowed to comment upon anything until your own club has completed all its transfers to your satisfaction?

... Always talk of how Spurs are improving. In reality you aren't. You're no closer to regularly qualifying for the Champions League than you've ever been.

This is complete bollocks ... as even a cursory examination of the upward trend since Levy became chairman will reveal.

One thing I don't understand about they "Levy is the best chairman" crap that I see wheeled out by Spurs fans. They would have got top 4 last year had he not been so tight with the money and actually got a striker. It's been a problem for a good 2/3 years and he's missed out on a lot of player.

Ah, the subtle "you United fans are glory hunters" post, without actually using the words.

Touche.

You may be the first sports fan ever to not understand the concept of bragging about trophies. It's something you do as well as supporting them through thick and thin.

I know a story which illustrates the point nicely:

'Driven by hunger, a fox tried to reach some grapes hanging high on the vine but was unable to, although he leaped with all his strength. As he went away, the fox remarked, 'meh, I don't really care about trophies anyway. That 2005 FA Cup win was more than enough for me, thank you very much.'

Well if you don't live in Manchester 'glory hunter' is exactly what you are.

 Christ, what do you want him to do about it? Ring Levy and tell him to fix it? Are you not allowed to comment upon anything until your own club has completed all its transfers to your satisfaction?
I expect him not to hypocritically mock our clubs transfer policy when his own clubs is a bit of a shambles. We're talking about a man who thinks the sun shines out of Daniel Levy's arse and worked wonders on the Berbatov deal. A deal that was strung out to the last minute and led to Spurs losing their best player and in return getting a Man Utd reserve when they already lost their other main striker. I know you love to be contrary and all that but even you can't defend the mans madness. He can comment by all means but he doesn't need to be a hypocritical twat. If he ever took criticism of his own club maybe we'd be more open to his critiques on ours.

You've been around the top 4 for 5 years or so. You aren't getting any better. You're stagnating.

I feel if Spurs don't sign a quality striker this season stagnating is a fair assessment, but they have improved over 5 years ago. I don't think they have improved too much since when Redknapp was in charge, only Bale has turned world class.

No it isn't. When you go to matches you know there's more to it than that.

 You are pathetic. I was born a United fan, in Manchester. I go to plenty of matches. I support the club through thick and thin. I also enjoy the fact that we are successful, and win trophies.

Besides, an Arsenal fan having an opinion on the subject is like a teetotaller weighing in on whether or not it's pretentious to be too knowledgeable about wine. Of course you don't boast about trophies: http://www.sincearsenallastwonatrophy.co.uk Bit of a viticultural theme developing here, for some reason. I like it.

It's quite amusing that you have just done what people were bemoaning just a few pages up.

You don't support the club through thick and thin. That's not your fault of course. But you haven't. What's thin? Losing a CL semi-final?

Obviously big names like yourself wouldn't stoop to responding.

Pete is alright, he has a sense of humour and takes plenty of stick too. His wumming gets a bit boring, but moreso because of the genuine bites he gets. I like him though, always have. And he knows his football, despite his bitterness.

Glaston is a bit different, probably because of how arrogant and superior he comes across, when as a Spurs fan he has no reason to feel superior to United.

None of them annoy me, but it's clear they annoy many in the threads they post in, and it makes the particularly thread they've chosen to WUM in a bit of a shit read. It's no surprise Glaston got banned from the United forum.

What a bunch of cnuts and muffdivers - exactly like Liverpool supporters at the end of the 90s with their sense of entitlement and lack of understanding about what supporting a team is really like.

Pretty much it. Spurs could have made the top four in successive seasons but each time they have failed to invest. If they had gone out and spent 20-30m on a striker then they really would have pushed Arsenal out of the way.

I think Spurs would be better off selling Bale and getting a couple of top players in with the money. They should stop concerning themselves with us and focus on being better than Arsenal, Liverpool and Everton. Then they can become a top four side, which is when they can think about having players of Bales quality. The cart is being put before the horse. He's a cherry, but they don't have a cake.

So do you deny deliberately trying to antagonise people on here, particularly United fans, as if Spurs are our rivals?

You'll not find many posts over the lasts few days having a go at the poster rather than the post, other than you. But then, you draw that ire with your deliberate attempt to wind people up. You've been at it in transfer threads for days now. Transfer threads that don't interest you other than to take the piss out of the United fans posting in them.

Dear oh dear. This sums you up nicely. And this from a poster who called me "Billy Big Balls" only yesterday

Spurs play in the same league as United. Spurs took more points from you last season than vice-versa. Spurs have finished in the top 4 twice in the last few years and aim to finish higher still this time around. Spurs finished on 72 points last season and aim to get more this season.

So who knows, perhaps you'll end up in a dog-fight with Spurs and others this season to just to stay in the top 4 yourself. I wouldn't rule it out by any means. But I'm sure you will absolutely guarantee otherwise ... just as Liverpool fans and Chelsea fans did for their teams in recent times.

So it's pretty clear what winds you up. It's things like the "cheek" of Spurs in refusing to selling Bale. It's things like Spurs fans daring to think that Moyes is actually a pretty uninspiring choice to replace Fergie, or even worse (god forbid) thinking that AVB is better. It's things like Spurs thinking they could ever compete with the mighty MUFC.

Dear oh dear.

Ah shit, sorry we haven't plummeted into obscurity whilst I've been a supporter. Should I abandon the club my family have supported for generations upon generations to prove how loyal I am? ArsenaLogic.

I would support them through thin. A lot thinner than anything any Arsenal fan has had to endure either. Obviously I have no way to prove it to you, which doesn't matter a jot. If nothing else, my dad would disown me.

How does one support a team oh wise one?

I did say it wasn't your fault, but you ignored that part of my post so you could have a rant.

If you want to brag about all the trophies United have won, that's fine. I just don't care for it.
