The demo is available here.

I played through to January with Birmingham and was 6th when the demo ended.

I was playing a possession based 4141. My first 11 was - Hart; Esparza, Vignal, Dann, Johnson; Tainio; Defour, Jouffre, Ferguson, Larsson; Benitez.

So it's not as realistic or factually accurate as Football Manager. There may be too many extra distractions. It's probably too easy (as my 6th placed spot might suggest). True.

... But it's fun. It moves at quick pace, it's enjoyable on the eyes, it's not too serious. I found it a really welcome change from Football Manager. Although FM is excellent, it can be quite a draining, intellectual game at times.

Give FIFA Manager 10 a play. It's brought back a little bit of my old football management simulation love. I think, when both are out, I'll opt for it over Football Manager.

Awaiting possible backlash :nervous:;)

Decent, have a look. Aesthetically the game is very impressive. It runs very quickly too; especially for a game that's very graphically abundant.

The problem with FIFA manager is that your players improve by *** or +2 attributes every december and at the end of every season. So once you play more than 5 seasons with a decent side you'd have some outstanding players even in a mediocre side. For example, i took Q.P.R to the dizzy heights of the CL within 3 years. Too easy and not as much fun. Worthwhile if you're going to edit the stats in FM because here you need not edit anything, they'd give you messi reincarnates and better through your youth system.

However i do like some of their ideas. Youth camps for example was something i was very fond of. And also their press conferences which siga seems to have taken up the last few years. Not realistic, but should be allright for those who want to win rather than play with the tactics and formations.

What was the last FM you played because I don't think I've experienced this? The potential system limits how good your players can get, so even if they are improving unless you have dug up the hidden gems of FM your players shouldn't really become outstanding. Not sure about QPR getting high potential regens either, unless your youth system has been upgraded to be the tits.

I used to find FM easy, but now I find it simulates football a lot better (no super tactics and lots of random occurrences) which has made it harder for me personally. But hell if you can still take QPR to the CL in 3 years good work.

He's not talking about Football Manager...

To each their own I guess.

The biggest appeal of TCM/FIFA Manager is the arcade-like appeal it takes to football management. It's easy to dominate the game and always has been. There's definitely a market for these sorts of games but I do think if the game hadn't been in EA's hands, it would have done so much better.

FIFA Manager has always been a good way to "unwind" from Football Manager. I'll always prefer a good, long game of Football Manager, but once in a while it's fun to go back to FIFA Manager for some good, arcadey fun. It doesn't last very long, though.
