I presume yes. But I think he's quality. The Libertines were obviously much better than the Babyshambles, but the Shambles are still quite good. He has his problems obviously, but from the few interviews and documentarys I've seen on him (Mainly his two appearances on Wossy, which are on youtube) he comes across like an alright lad. And he was class live, when I saw the Babyshambles.

He's just another junkie bum and I really don't see where the talent is either. Nothing he or his bands have done impresses me, he really doesn't deserve any limelight and is currently working himself back down the ladder.

Extremely talented individual and very dedicated to his fans ( through inviting them to secret shows and releasing loads of music for free online. Unfortunately he's had his problems and the media have never stopped harassing him but TBH I don't think he even cares. he's just trying to live his life the way he wants to and doesn't seem to give a feck what anyone thinks. Much like with people like Elvis and Kurt Cobain hopefully the good music produced will be remembered more than the troubled nature of the individual.

The Libertines were one of the finest British bands of the past decade. Pete's always been hailed a genius and he is, but makes himself look like a talentless waste of space because of his drug problems. He is a really nice guy and I've met him so I can talk from experience, but he clearly has a screw loose and I hope he can get over his drug problems and ditch babyshambles. They are the biggest pile of shit ever and his band members don' care about him which is one of the main reasons his drug problems have continued. Carl Barat was the only one who cared about him.

I can't believe that some people have compared Doherty to popular music icons such as Elvis and Kurt Cobain! Doherty lacks the musical talent and the level of fame to warrant even a comparison between life styles.

My comparison was not in terms of musical talent at all but rather in that all three had troubled private lives but also some degree of musical talent. Cobain and Elvis are far more talented obviously but still the comparison stands that Elvis is remembered more as a man who made great music rather than a fecked up individual and hopefully Doherty's musical achievements (like it or not the Libertines were a great band who along with the Strokes helped bring guitar rock back and got shite like Feeder and Limp Bizkit off the charts) will not be entirely overshadowed by his weaknesses.

Saw him live a few years ago (pre Kate Moss) doing a solo acoustic set - he was so out of it that he played the same song twice - cue 100s of pissed up Mancs chanting 'You've only got one song ...' - it was classic
