Inspired by the thread at the start of the season of predicting where we should finish and our current state.

I think a lot of us have been brought back down to reality this season. Before a ball was kicked, we had people saying Ronaldo was guaranteed 30+ goals and would be top goal scorer in the league. Varane would form a force field around our goal, while Sancho, Rashford etc would be mugging off every team with their tricks. Even Maguire had come off a good Euro campaign and looked solid.

In the cold light of day, are we all guilty of over rating many players based on their name or the price we paid for them? I have seen many people claim Newcastle will need 5 years to ‘catch us up’, is our squad really that good and it’s just a case that we have been badly coached?

Let’s pretend that Ole never happened and we had a great manager like Poch or ETH in charge from the start of this season. Where do you honestly and realistically think this team should finish in the PL table?

I honestly think battling for the 4th place is where we realistically should be.
Everyone saying otherwise really underestimates City, Liverpool and to some extend Chelsea, and severely overrates our own swuad.

I have given up on this lot honestly. I was just checking my post history and I have never been so angry and negative about utd but this lot has made me mad.

Apart from Sancho, Varane and Bruno, I couldn't care less about the rest. Most of them are championship level players anyways.

These players don't know the meaning of consistency.

Yup, I've come to the realisation this year that I've overrated the will of our players to win anything.

They have all the talent in the world, but they can't be fecked, despite all the social media posts about 'going again next week'

We have a team of Quaresmas and Taarabts.

Nope, I never buy into the hype of players we buy. Not anymore at least. One of the best lessons you can learn in life is to never make the same mistake twice. After years of seeing almost every player we buy/develop end in failure, why would any sane person continue to hype up any of them or overrate them? I honestly can't stand the majority of the current team and believe in most cases they are getting paid 2 or 3 times what they'd earn anywhere else.

They are not as good as what most were saying at start of the season nor are they as bad as what most are saying now.

Start of the season i thought they were probably about 4th best in league talent wise and I still think that now.

Still think we will finish around 4th, start of the season thought we could of pushed to 3rd or even 2nd with a bit of luck, we haven't had that luck and now 4th is the maximum we can achieve. Although we are not favourites for it and it looks more likely 5th or 6th is where we will finish, which would be very much a underachievement which would pretty much sum up the season so far.

I said 4th at the start of season but overrated us. The current squad I'd have us around 6th now behind Spurs and Arsenal. Big danger of Newcastle over taking us in the summer.

It all began when Ronaldo started eating plain chicken in front of the squad. They all copied him and the lack of energy made them play like they were sleep walking.

Absolutely, it's a squad plagued with weak mentality and an entitlement culture, bunch of overpaid spineless bottlers.

Players at United being over rated has been going on for years. We are the sum of our parts which is bang average, from top to bottom
