short term pain
Long term gain
yes, but he said you get given none of the bad stuff. if that’s true why would your body make you feel under the weather? i’m no scientist, purely curious.

I had the booster jab yesterday and ended up having a blazing row with the wife afterwards ... we have not argued like that in a long time.

I had such a hissy, I stormed off, got in the car and drove off, fully on planning to sleeping in the car for the night.

Only went back because i was low on fuel and forgot my wallet.

The biggest issue was i did not know my Apple password so i could not remove the Find my Phone thingy which is also on wife's phone and no doubt she would have bloody tracked me down at 2am somewhere.

Your body is hard at work developing a response to an external agent.

so why is it that people do feel sick after taking the vaccine?

Whenever your immune system kicks in you’re likely to feel crap. A lot of the symptoms of a viral illness are your own immune response. A high fever protects you by making your body less hospitable to viruses/bacteria.

The vaccine stimulates an immune response in a similar manner to the way that covid does. Unlike covid, it won’t trigger an extremely exaggerated immune response that ends up killing you.

Why it doesn’t make sense to you?

Because the first team and youth team are different entities. Different bubbles, coaches, areas etc.

They aren't mutually exclusive.

Just because the youth team can play doesn't mean the first team can. Unless every first team fixture cancellation in the PL to date has directly impacted on the youth team?

Anyone would think we were dealing with Ebola -which killed 40% of contacts and there was never any lockdown-or an outbreak of Rabies. It’s a (mild) dose of the flue for most people -the hysteria being generated by the media is nauseating. Either the vaccines work or they don’t, if they don’t then why the push for a 3rd - it’s totally illogical .
Ebola, while a lot more deadly, does not transmit via air and only symptomatic people transmit it. You do not need a lockdown as much - and especially if you can organize the detection, tracing and isolation properly - which is a LOT easier to do since infectious people with Ebola won't be running around and even if they do they have to have really close contact with others to infect them - a simple cough won't do it. That is why Ebola was not a big problem outside less developed countries.

The effectiveness of vaccines wanes over time and against new variants, so a booster is needed. Lockdowns help to not overburden the health system, win time for more people to vaccinate- and vaccines greatly reduce the probability to get sick/get dangerously sick. Eventually covid will become endemic, i.e. occur in small predictable and easily manageable patters since there will be enough immunity in the population. We will reach this immunity anyway - but lockdowns and vaccinations help us reach it more through vaccination and/or asymptomatic or very mild cases. Yes, even if we did not find a vaccine and everyone got sick - it would be deadly just for a small number of people- but it is literally tens of millions on global scale, the vast majority of whom is saved via lockdowns/vaccines.

so why is it that people do feel sick after taking the vaccine?

Because your body attacks the alien protein that has been injected into your body, symptoms are generally your bodies way of trying to rid the itself of the alien substance.

People comparing Ebola and covid tells you all you need to know. Ignorance levels are just incredible.
It's why we're in the mess we're in. So many people completely clueless about how viruses and vaccines work, and getting their information from grifters on social media as opposed to doctors and scientists.

Baseball analogy:

When you’re hitting infront of a pitching machine, the idea is to simulate the real thing as much as possible so that when you do face a real pitcher, you will know exactly what to do.

Same thing with a vaccine. The protein trains your immune system to fight against similar foreign objects, which in this case would be covid.

We have been getting sick after getting vaccines all the time, its nothing new. I used to get sick after the flu shot all the time, so I stopped taking it since the flu wasn’t that big of a deal. Covid is a different story altogether though.

so why is it that people do feel sick after taking the vaccine?
What is sick? Fever, chills, nausea, headache... All these are symptoms that your body has detected a foreign presence and is learning to fight it.

The statement indicates that the reason why the club is in discussion with PL is started with the cancellation of training.
Given cancellation of training and disruption to the squad, and with the health of players and staff the priority, the Club is in discussion with the Premier League whether it is safe for Tuesday’s fixture against Brentford to continue

The fact the youth team is still able to use the old Trafford, there is no reason why can’t the first team move their training to old Trafford today?

What was the argument about? The booster or something unrelated?

I got my booster yesterday. Felt fine but woke up with a slight headache. Nothing new, I get headaches often due to my neck pain due to posture issues. Anyway, still feeling fine other than the headache.

The sign says keep of the grass though

Sounds like cervicogenic headache. You should see a chiropractor about that and also try acupuncture.

This definitely feels like its going to be called off. I'm surprised its not announced already.

Second shot on weds and I’ve felt like utter crap since. Full blown cold symptoms and extreme fatigue, felt fine after the first one.

The vaccines are very safe, felling a bit sick after a vaccine is normal - your immune system is ramping up defenses similarly to a disease, so you may feel similar symptoms.

There is another issue when in very rare cases some people are getting nasty side effects, especially young males. What most likely the issue with young males is that they have much higher vascularity in their deltoid muscles, which leads to higher chance the vaccine is inadvertently given intravenously (the needle hits a blood vessel). That is linked with higher risk (still very rare mind you) of myocarditis for mRNA vaccines and blood cloths for adenovirus vaccines (Astrazeneca), because the vaccine goes in the blood stream instead of the muscle. That’s why it’s important the syringe gets aspirated first (you pull the plunger a bit to see if blood comes back in the syringe - if blood comes back you don't give the vaccine). However not every country has the mandatory aspiration, in the UK they don’t do it (same with US and Canada), because the aspiration is linked with more pain as a side effect. I personally don’t care about the pain, so for my vaccine I specifically asked for aspiration - they grumbled a bit but did it, I suggest you research vaccine syringe aspiration - there are great videos by John Campbell with a lot of evidence that a large proportion of the nasty side effects such as myocarditis or blood cloths come from inadvertently intravenously given vaccines.

Can we play Brentford on Saturday instead? Southampton is their next fixture, so I'm guessing not.

The PL might have to get creative with scheduling because all of these postponements will lead to a massive backlog.
The schedule has a massive amount of flex unless someone gets to the Carabao Cup semi, requires FA Cup replays and is in a European playoff round. United right now have at least four slots free prior to completing their last 16 CL matches. It’s only Spurs who could be in trouble if they keep progressing in all the cups.

Do some reading on the subject.

What is going on with the delay? Premier league have had all day to deliberate whether to play the game or not... Just make your mind up.

The way they haven't announced it being off yet almost suggests the opposite to me.

Surely they need to announce it ASAP if it is off.
The players need to get there for starters as well as loads of fans who are probably aiming to set off mid morning.

I have tickets for this game and I can see it being on. You rarely see United get the rub of the green when it comes to applying the rules.

Anyone know if the United squad have travelled there yet??

They will have to announce it tonight surely ? People are taking days off work to travel down tomorrow it’s a joke.

The thing that surely decides it, is how many players have actually tested positive.
Not a training ground being quarantined, but how many first team squaddies are out.
Tottenham had about 6 or 7 didn't they?

I don’t think the travel plans of the away fans really comes into it – and I say that as someone who was going to away games at the start of the pandemic knowing it might be cancelled at short notice.

I imagine right now that the game could go ahead but there will be more test results tomorrow that could still mean it needs to be cancelled.

You may be right

I still see it being called off because they always take safety first approach with covid, but they might leave the decision so late that they have to proceed with it

The difference in other cases is that we haven't been able to train today and barely yesterday. I can see this being on as we always get different treatment for some reason.

It’s the same reason why annual flu vaccines are a thing. Vaccine efficacy changes as the virus changes.

I do feel for both the club and the PL here. Impossible decision to make. Hopefully whatever decision made considers the safety of the players and fans first and foremost.

First vaccine as well that's ever required other people to take it for it to be effective

That's one of the dumbest things I've ever read on here, and I've read (and written) a lot of dumb things. How the hell are you managing to get banned for vaccine denial two years into the pandemic? There's got to be some kind of award in the RedCafe Awards for that.
