A substandard bag of meat and bones.
I've picked up Pet Sounds, The Village Green Preservation Society and Forever Changes in the last few months and they've probably made my top 20 best albums which also includes a few other 60s albums like Blonde On Blonde, Rubber Soul, Highway 61 Revisited so how about making a definitive list?

Genre is irrelevant but should be a good chance to find some more great music that you might have overlooked.

Interesting topic. These obvious ones came to mind:

The Stooges self titled effort
'Let it Bleed' and 'Beggars Banquet' by the Rolling Stones
There are at least 6 Beatles albums that are worth a shout as 60's classics.
'The Velvet Underground & Nico' by The Velvet Underground
'Led Zeppelin I' and '...II'
'Are You Experienced', 'Axis: Bold as Love' and 'Electric Ladyland' by the Jimi Hendrix Experience

Good choices, from the Beatles I would only really rate Rubber Soul and Revolver as essentials, and maybe Abbey Road. I'm not a big fan of Sgt Pepper.

Animal Tracks - Animals
Wheels of Fire - Cream
A Man and the Blues - Buddy Guy
A Love Supreme - John Coltrane
Jazz Samba - Getz/Byrd
Getz/Gilberto
Muddy Waters at Newport

Howlin' Wolf - The Rockin' Chair Album
Johnny Cash - At Folsom Prison
The Doors - The Doors

Off the top of my head those, and possibly Marvin Gaye - What's Going On, but I get the feeling that was early 70's? Although you already mentioned my personal favourite in Pet Sounds, a genuinely fantastic album. Might have a look to see what else should be added to the list.

6 was an exaggeration, I just couldn't decide off the top of my head which few to mention. Beyond what you've listed there, I'd make a case for the White Album, but that's about it.

Abbey Road is the first on the list for me, then just take your pick from Rubber Soul, Revolver, Sgt.Pepper, The White Album.

Actually I'd even include Help! in that list - If any other band had released an album with as many quality songs as Help! (The Night Before, You've Got To Hide Your Love Away, Ticket to Ride,You're Going to Lose That Girl, I've Just Seen A Face, Yesterday) there is no way it wouldn't be considered a classic.

Same goes for Magical Mystery Tour in my opinion (Strawberry Fields Forever, I Am The Walrus, All You Need Is Love, Hello Goodbye, Penny Lane). I backpedalled on calling them all 60's classics, but having looked through the quality of albums in the thread, most of their 60's albums more than hold their own.

Yeah, I forgot about Magical Mystery Tour. That actually has my favourite George Harrison song on it, Blue Jay Way.

I bleat on about this to my mates, it's actually my personal favourite Magical Mystery Tour for all it's physchdelicness (that's horrible spelling, but I cannot be arsed to look it up), absolutely love that album but no-one else seems to rate it because of all the other high quality output the Beatles produced.
