Calling all mancs of the Madchester Movement
Right so I've just watched 24 Hour Party People for the first time in ages. Upon viewing it shortly after its release, I was quite surprised at its quality both in entertainment and the seemingly accurate portrayal of the Manchester scene. I was a Joy Division fanatic from an early age and still rate Ian Curtis and the lads as one of the most telling bands of modern days. Obviously, I was disappointed the film focused on the Mondays as they were complete wank. But what I'm wondering is, for those of you that were there, was the scene all I imagined it was back then? I hate rave/dance culture and X is one of the few mind altering substances I've avoided, mind. But surely there was more rock & roll to it than the film leads us to believe.
