I've actually played with Omara Portuondo, the female singer on the original album. Great, great singer.

Not at all sadly... Now there's a singer who doesn't bother with auto-tune. If you cleaned that voice up you'd lose the 70 years of character and history built up in it...
Chan Chan is my favourite, incorporated it into our set about 10 years ago when I had a little guitar 2 piece going.
Great album that is. I also picked up 2 of Ruben Gonzalez' albums and the Ibrahim Ferrer album from 1999.
