Break-in robbery at Lindelöf's house during Brentford game - Wife and kids at home

If they catch these cowardly scumbags run a check on their bank accounts to see if they recieved a cash transfer from HM.Ltd just prior! :nervous: .......seriously though, these are near the top of the lowlife list, deliberately targeting a woman and 2 young kids, and I don't care if that makes me sound old fashioned. Hopefully the Lindelof's will get through this and I'm sure Victor will invest in a security team for away days.

Feckin hell. I do not know how the players deal with security, but if it was me and I earned so much money, I would have bought or rented a house or apartment with walls outside and hired a couple of guards.
Cctv, alarm and a panic room are far cheaper. Who the feck would want a couple of guards hanging round their house 24/7…

The same thing happened in Paris to Di Maria last year. It happened to Otamendi in Portugal in December last year, and Smalling in Italy in April.

As has been mentioned in this thread; footballers are an easier target because 1. a lot of information is public, them/their wives are on Instagram frequently, and 2. they tend to target when players are playing matches away from their houses.
Didnt feel the need to stop playing and move though? Knew that was a handy excuse.

If I had the money I'd definitely get around-the-clock security just for peace of mind. Your house would be a golden goose with all that wealth and as others have said they're on instagram a lot basically inviting people in.

Properties can be monitored from a far, you don't need static security.

My concern is that something like this could escalate into a more violent incident. SURELY clubs need to take this seriously? The police just don't have the funding or resources to tackle this.
Clubs? Why the hell would CLUBS need to take this seriously? Players possessions and belongings aren't property of the club. They should be accountable for their own belongings at least.

They recently caught a gang that was doing it to numerous Italian footballers. I'm sure somebody will be along to replace them soon though.

The only way is private security outside residences during games.

PSV's Zahavi last year or two years ago as well.

Thank God his wife and kid didn’t get hurt. They probably have an alarm system but that’s clearly not adequate. The player or the club should stump the cash for private patrol.
Don't know why you think the club should stump up for that? These people are scum, but I wouldn't expect my place of work to have to foot the bill.

You'd be surprised. I'm lucky enough to work for a large and successful organization that has kept me employed during the pandemic and just last week people were asking senior management in a meeting if they were going to reimburse people for office chairs etc because we weren't going back to the office anytime soon. Completely oblivious to the fact that they've been fortunate to have a very well paid job the last two years. Take a day's pay and buy a chair you fecking cheapskates.

I know not every security system is 100 percent but dont these rich dudes have some serious tech?

 agreed

Why though?

If the players want private security they should pay for it themselves

I feel like the club should organise it (get the contract with a private security firm who can cover X amount of houses etc.) and then give the option to the players if they want it (and thus pay for it).

Horrible, understandable that he doesn't want to play tomorrow. He's had a rough time off the pitch recently.

Private security for every player during games is the only option. It'll be a hefty bill but top clubs are good for it I'm sure. This will keep on happening.
Hefty bill?
If I was earning 100-200k a week
I would pay a couple of grand a week for security all year round.

Players need to start negotiating private security and clubs need to offer it otherwise I don't see a solution as criminal gangs know when the player won't be at home.

I don't think 24/7 security is necessary but just at the time when the players is away from home.

Other than that all you can do is build better dances, gates, have guard dogs and CCTV
Don't see how choreography will help.

Don Maguire: Well done boys. Will call you again, when I need your services.

On a serioys note, hope they are ok, especially the kids.

If you're reading this Victor, Boerboels are the answer to your security concerns.

The clubs should foot it, for every player (and maybe coach/suit/whatever) with the travelling squad, so it'll add up but of course they could afford it no problem.

I agree the players could do it themselves too, and probably should.

Surely it can be arranged so every player has a little portacabin at the front of their drives with a security guard on watch at all times of the day. 3 x 8 hour shifts for 3 alternating blokes.

Someone do the math I'm sure it can be afforded by players earning x100ks a week?

It's a sad state of affairs that they even need security but these burglaries are quite common in Alderley Edge, Wilmslow, Bowdon, Hale etc. These scumbags just know too much these days with players activities being broadcasted, WAGs social media accounts, Google earth/streetview and probably knowing that the only obstacle they face is a screaming woman and terrified children.

Utter scumbags. I would definitely be enquiring about some sort of security if I was a player.

He should've left a cardboard cutout of himself attached to a train model going in circles in his living room.

You could chuck £50 grand a year at 3 people to sit in their cars in 8 hour shifts outside your gaff. Wouldn't even need to do any security work.

Give them a few free tickets as well and a million people would want that job. feck, I'd do it.
