Just saw on Wiki that Universal are making a film of it.

Industry rumors after the game's release suggested a film adaptation of the game would be made, utilizing similar green screen filming techniques as in the movie 300 to recreate the environments of Rapture.[169] On May 9, 2008, Take Two announced a deal with Universal Studios to produce a BioShock movie, to be directed by Gore Verbinski (Pirates of the Caribbean, The Ring) and written by John Logan (Gladiator, The Aviator, Star Trek Nemesis, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street).[170] The film was expected to be released in 2010, but was put on hold due to budget concerns.[171] The film is rumoured to include Wentworth Miller[172] as hinted on his Twitter.

Not sure what to make of this, will be interesting to see if they pull it off. Wonder how long it's to be delayed for aswell

Can I be the first to say...yay!

Erm no, movies based on games suck fuzzy maracas. I did like the first Mortal Kombat movie though.

So they will have a man killing splicers and having someone talking to him from the radio? Also the characters were quite lonely without too much interference between each other. They might make the splicers a bit more rational and coordinating and the bosses to actually talk and have personal conduct with Andrew Ryan. Whatever they choose to do, the movie will be very different to the actual game, like every movie of a game. However, this movie has potential because the game has a nice plot, with a strong background story, and an atmosphere through out immersing you into the game. I'm mean there's a reason it's considered one of the best games ever despite not being spectacular or having something really innovative.

I was thinking they could make the first hour or so purely about the history of Rapture, since it was built in 1946 to 1960 then have the last 3/4 of an hour or so based around the bit we play. That could work well imo

It has to be a good first hour with action, Rapture should be like Gotham City during its most chaotic hours with the bit we play in a post apocalyptic Rapture, like it already is. The thing is the history of Rapture could start from time the idea was born in Andrews mind, how he found the resources to build it, the discovery of the stem cells, the start, the good times and then the bad times. This could take a lot more than an hour. The very start should be like Wolverine with the opening credits being images of how Andrew Ryan had disagreements with Harry Truman and Stalin and how Rapture was being built, which should be quite spectacular.

One thing is fo sho it will not be better than the classic known as BioDome

watching it crowd again tonight I kept thinking the guy who plays Denholm Reynholm reminds me of Andrew Ryan so much, I think his name is Chris Morris

would be a good casting imo then again, the acting might be shit

As far s the actual cast is concened, Wentworth Miller is rumored to be Jack and Braden Lynch is confirmed but only as "voice"

Someone suggested Michael Emerson as Sander cohen to me earlier today, im not sure if he can pull of the crazy factor though he has the creep factor down to a tee however

Chris Morris as Andrew Ryan is a mental idea. Chris Morris is a comedian/writer legend in his own right, and if you look back over his career i dont think he'd be up for being in a Hollywood blockbuster. Looking forward to the film though if it ever happens. Obviously the story would need changed, but if they can keep the dark apmosphere, and the steampunk technology then it could be awesome. And with good cgi Rapture could look pretty impressive.
