The back 5 picks itself. The AM and CF positions as well. The remaining 4 positions is the problem.
- Do we continue with McFred or do we force Pogba in there, even though we know that it fecks up our balance and makes us even more vulnerable on the counter?
- Do we continue to let Greenwood flourish or do we bench him for players like Sancho who has a better resume and is better in theory(for now)?
- What happens when Rashford returns?
- What happens if Cavani keeps looking good coming off the bench? Do we shift Ronaldo to the wing?
So that's McTominay, Fred, Pogba, Sancho, Rashford, Greenwood and Cavani. 7 players fighting over 4 positions, with all of them having a good claim. And even though most of them can expect to be gone in a year, you can bet that Lingard, Martial and Van De Beek wants playtime as well. So it's actually 10 players for 4 positions. And that's not even including youth prospects.
The club's inability to sell players and strengthen the central midfield(which should have happened at least 1 year ago) has definitely given Ole a tough task in terms of picking the best team. It's good to have many options, but I think it's a little too much right now.
