Best post Sir Alex XI

Romero
AWB - Varane - Blind - Shaw
Herrera - Matic
Rashford - Bruno - Martial
Ibrahimovic
Not a bad team at all to be fair. Under a good manager possibly a title contender.

Team should be...

-----------------Romero-----------------
AWB--Varane--Maguire--Shaw
-------Herrera-------Matic-------
Rashford---Bruno---Ronaldo
-----------------Cavani-----------------

Noticeable absentees are obviously Zlatan and Pogba, just prefer both Cavani and Bruno to them even though the former actually won two trophies to zero :nervous:

Romero
AWB Maguire Blind Shaw
Herrera Mctominay
Mata Bruno Rashford
Cavani
What I take away from this is wow we have wasted a lot of money!

I’m picking Pogba, when Fergie played Park and Rafael in midfield over Pogba, he gave up ever being a Fergie player!

Henderson
Wan-Bissaka - Maguire - Blind - Shaw
Matic - Herrera - Pogba
Bruno
Rashford - Martial

Romero

AWB
Varane
Lindelof
Shaw

Herrera
Pogba

Greenwood
Rashford
Bruno

Lukaku

Romero, Shaw, Maguire, Lindelof, Wan Bissaka, Matic, Fred, Fernandes, Rashford, Martial, Zlatan.

I didn't include Pogba or Ronaldo as they are technically Fergie players, despite not being part of his last title winning squad. Varane/Sancho miss out purely because I based this selection on the contribution that players have made at the club.

* I'm counting both post-Fergie Pogba & Ronaldo in though. Obviously in their post-Fergie form.

Ronaldo - Ibrahimovic - Rashford
Bruno
Pogba - Herrera
Shaw - Blind - (Varane) - Wan-Bissaka
Romero

Subs: Henderson, Matić, Maguire, Mata, Young, Greenwood, Cavani

Varane gets because I don't want to put Maguire in even though he probably should be in since the former has played like 2 games for us. Ronaldo had already earned himself a place in in my opinion. It's already a very challenging task but removing De Gea, Smalling, Valencia made it even harder.

Of course but I think it's safe to say we've got the best base to work from that we've had since Sir Alex left.

I've got two points to make on that and I start with self criticism. When LVG left I used Mou's signings as proof that LVG was unsuited for us. Few years later I would use the same trick with Mou (ie by using Ole's signing). That was until some poster in here told me not to judge a signing on his first season with us and he was right. Out of Mou's 11 signings Bailly, Ibra, Pogba, Matic and Lukaku had great first seasons with us. Lindelof was solid as well, Mkhitaryan was meah, Dalot was one for the future, Sanchez was a flop, Grant was the typical ancient player we'll never ever use and Fred came at a time when Mou had already lost it. Considering that he ended in Ole's XI then he wasn't half bad. So we're talking about 70% success rate based on that specific yardstick.

Ole spent way more then Mou did so his success rate should be better. Bruno and Ronaldo were untouchable in their first season but AWB, Varane and Maguire did very well as well. The same can be said about Cavani. Ole had more Dalots (ie young players he never really used) in Pellistri and Diallo. He had more 'Freds' in VDB, Telles and Sancho and he had more 'Grants' in Heaton and McShane. What Ole didn't do was to leave a very expensive flop behind. Having said that Maguire seem to be working very hard towards that goal and its still early days with Ronaldo. Don't take me wrong Ronaldo is mint, a top top player but he simply can't accept the bench. That's dangerous in a 37 year old man child. Age will catch up with the guy and when he does then I am predicting a meltdown that will make Keane's meltdown on MUTV look like a whimper.

Romero
Varela Maguire Blind Shaw
Herrera Matic Pogba
Januzaj Cavani Martial
Januzaj only made the bench in Fergie's last game so I'm claiming him!
