Babba Maal - Television

I'll watch this later, Pogue.

I am currently enthralled by a French Canadian group called Malajube.

You should check them out, plenty of their stuff is on youtube.

thats such a smooth beat running through it i would listen to that all day the beat that is, the song itself aint bad I too am not a huge fan of world music

i used to have a great album by MC Solaar, i cant speak a word of french but wow this album was funky, if i could remember what it was called i´d recommend it but all i remember was some of the lyrics were in english and it was in the early 1990´s

I tried to get into them a couple of years ago after hearing a lot of good things about them, but just couldn't for some reason... Maybe I should try again

Their latest disc, Labyrinthes, is really good. Quite different fromTrompe-l'oeil.

I'll check it out, I had Trompe-l'oeil on my iPod for a while but just never quite... dunno, felt it.

On a side note, on the subject of French music, I've been listening to the Sexy Sushi album, Tu l'as bien mérité recently. It's... well, weird, but it starts with the French version of the Law & Order Criminal Intent beginning, which is mint.

James Lavelle used to work there too.

It's a bit of an institution. If you're ever in London you should check it out.

I've been in once, but usually stick with Berwick St when I'm down as it's a bit out of the way. Cool area though, lots going on with all the markets etc.

I didn't know Lavelle worked there. I was a mo wax head when I was younger, some brilliant stuff on the label, although never really liked his UNKLE stuff too much.
