Isn't this supposed to the movie event of our life times ? Most expensive movie ever made and what not. Been in production for a few years now I think.... read somewhere that it was the longest full time production period for any movie. We know that Cameron is a perfectionist, but this is supposed to be big even by his standards. In terms of technology, this is supposed to be the next step because he has used 3D Virtual cameras which simulate human sight as close as possible.

The damn movie hasn't even been released and we already have a host of Avatarians and Avatar day and what not. Any one else been following the hype ?

Hopefully not. Cameron wouldn't go that way .. all signs point to this being a visual treat. The character in the poster is CGI .. looks pretty life like to me.

I cant wait, been reading up on it recently. Sounds like it could be a great movie. Some completely orignal sci-fi for a change, instead of remaking older films.

Yeah this has been rumbling on for years hasn't it....to be honest, sounds like a shit Sci Fi movie at the moment. Hope it's not

Cameron gave a 20 minute preview of the movie at Comic Con a few days ago and the reaction from critics has been all positive. Fingers crossed, it's been too long since we've had a good sci-fi movie.

The reaction from everyone at Comic Con is positive for everything...it's a geek fest! give them 10 ft tall Blue men and they've already wet themselves twice....

So true ...

-- "25 minutes of Avatar in 3D played, and it surpassed all expectations and anything the guy who gave us Terminator 2 has ever done. What Cameron has done with CGI and performance capture, and making it look photo-real in 3D, is akin to what Miyazaki has done with animation." -- Phil Pirrello, IGN

-- "Basically, today James Cameron walked into a room with 6,000 people and pulled out his dick and slapped it on the table. With an HD camera pointing right at it ... Avatar is really, really, really, really cool. It is not photoreal." -- Drew McWeeney, HitFix

-- "Sorry, folks, but while the most fully realized and wholly immersive CGI achievement in cinematic history probably won't cure peptic ulcers or reverse male-pattern-baldness, it will definitely make you go "whoa" more times than Keanu Reeves on his first visit to the Long Beach Aquarium." -- Seth Abramovitch, Movieline
