Anthony Martial | Sevilla loan watch

Are we just ignoring his performances this last year? He’s really not a better option than Elang he’s a total fecking waster in a United shirt. Lazy as feck.

I disagree with Elanga. I mean yeah he works hard but the lad doesn't look anything special in all honesty. With Martial you always had the hope he'd turn things round again as the talent is there. Also let's not pretend he didn't have very good times with us too.

I agree and for the record I do also think that getting rid of James ahead of jokers like Lingard was a mistake.
Our squad planning is a bit of a shambles

It’s horrendous. Made even more rotten by the scousers and City getting so much right. I think managers have a bigger part to play then they’re given credit for when it comes to squad building and we’re reaping the whirlwind of nearly 10 years (jesus christ, TEN YEARS!) with managers who are shit at that part of their job.

I don't really care how he plays for Sevilla. He had over an entire calendar year of being consistently utter garbage for us. Ole kept faith with him a lot longer than any good manager would have.

If it was this season you could give him a by of it being typical of 90% of the squad, but he was at it before it even became cool.

It seems he rediscovers his love to the game. Pleased for him. At 26, he will still have five to seven years to play at the highest level.

I think he's been discarded more than a few times and totally lost all motivation over the years at United. Tbh with Martial I think he absolutely needed and still needs a clean break but can become a very good player elsewhere. Mentally it just wasn't working out though, and I think a lot of that is on the different managers he's had.

So what if he wants to go? He is needed till he isn't. We forced Lingard to stay so I don't get your point.

Im sure he only wanted to go because he was fully convinced the club is to scared to drop Ronaldo.
Rangnick didn't force Lingard to stay, it was the morons above him. At least get your facts straight.

Rangnick costing us with his decision to loan our best striker. He kept lingard so I dont care that Martial wanted to leave.
Martial came out after what 8 days after Rangnick joined and said he wanted to leave. He wasnt even willing to fight for his place under a new manager. I suppose because of the world cup these players - DVB, Lingard, Martial needed games and saw Jan window the only way guarantee that. What was Rangnick supposed to do? Lingard wasn't kept because of Rangnick. Rangnick said he could go. He was kept because Newcastle are a bunch of scum fkers that couldn't come to an agreement with the club. Why do fans make up sht thats not true?

OK.
21/22. 1 goal in 11 games
20/21 7 goals in 32 games
19/20 23 goals in 48 games
18/19 2 goals in 11 games
17/18 11 goals in 45 games

44 goals in 147 games

Want me to keep going? Or does it still not suit your agenda that Martial should still be here because he's better than our current options?

18/19 season looks accurate

Glad you acknowledged yourself within the same post

How do you feel about Rashford? Just out of interest.

I tend to agree his time was up here. But I also think Rashford has been even more inconsistant for a longer period.

It's not like on FIFA. You can't just add a player to your squad and that's it. The player has to want it. And they have to feel comfortable with the inherent pressures of their club.

United was simply too big for Martial. He had a couple of decent seasons when there was no competition for his place. But the moment he had to prove himself, he wilted.

I expect him to make a good career for himself at a mid-sized club somewhere in Europe. He might even score enough goals some seasons to take him to the top of the scoring charts. Unfortunately, there's more to cutting it at the top level than that.

Are people really claiming we should have kept him? Martial FC is mental.
Time will tell. Cavani hasn't done anything since the transfer window. If that continues, he'll have set a really low bar and the answer would be an obvious "yes". I was fine with it at the time. We'll see, I guess.

Rashford was better over the last year had a legitimate excuse (or so we thought) for being below par and is two years younger. So obviously made more sense to hold onto him. Plus be wasn’t trying to leave!

Discarded is far too heavy of a word, he was never discarded. Martial simply doesn't have the fire needed for a top player, if he did he'd have put everything into proving he's the best player on the pitch.

A fair weather player who is unable to turn his own bad form around. A move away is the right call for such a player.

you get some weird fans on here, happily watch Rashford stink the place out week in an out and the laughable top reds who would genuinely pick Elanga over him..

Since Greenwoods not around anymore we are badly lacking creativity in the final third. its a shame because we could've played some real nice stuff with Martial Sancho and Pogba.

Where is the released statements from the ones above him confirming this? You have no facts to begin with just delusions.

You guys always make these delusional statements like there is any current player thriving at the club. There is no example to set.

Martial will do very well in a settled team.

Could not care less what he does at Sevilla. He could score a goal a game, it is is pretty much irrelevant for me except for what it might earn us. It's clear his future does not belong here, how much more do we need to see him ambling around Old Trafford to know he's not taking us where the new manager should aspire to go. If Sevilla works out for him and he gets a move that suits him and he reignites his career, good for him. Maybe that's what he needs, but what we need is definitely to be clear of him.

I don't agree Rashford has been even more inconsistent over a longer period...well actually I do but only because Martial was so consistently shite.

Rashford is heading the same way this season but honestly at least you still notice he's playing. He'll have a shot, or try to take someone on, or do something. He's got two goals and an assist in our last 4-5 games. Martial would go one game after another literally not even trying to do anything.

I also think Rashford last season had the excuse that Ole kept playing him out of position. He even has that excuse this season with both Ole and Rangnick, although he has also been so bad that its no longer an excuse.

But basically yeah if Rashford doesn't improve between now and the end of the season he's in the same boat Martial was this time last year. Its too long to write off as a blip, and there's too much he just isn't doing to put on anyone other than him. He's just lucky the Greenwood situation means he's still in the first team picture, and even so he can't complain any game Elanga or even someone like Mejbri is picked ahead of him.

Rashford backed up a 20 goal season with another 20 goal season, granted this year has been poor but his consistency was ramping up until his back, foot and shoulder issues, granted his form hasn't been there for a while now

Who is better Martial or Rashford ?
Martial has always had more talent than Rashford imo, better first touch, vision, dribbler, football IQ.
Rashford is a more confident person though and sometimes that is more important.
It's been apparent for some time now that neither are good enough to bring us to the next level though. We used to have Rooney/Ronaldo. These two are well below that standard at a time when the opposition has improved to an incredibly high level.

So if Dan James scores that goal for Leeds against similar opposition we say “found his level”, right? I need to know what to think here.
“Found his level” is the most annoying cliché people on here use when they are trying to be patronising. Meaningless, as well as annoying.

As a fan that knows everything unlike the other United fans that make shit up, what did we not bend over for exactly?
Fact is we never did business with them. Doesn't matter what the reason is. Newcastle are on the level of Liverpool. We dont do business with them or we shouldnt. Ever. Yes Liverpool are for historic reasons. But now Newcastle are our rivals as well. They will compete with us for players in the summer. Maybe compete for top 4 next season and in the near future be taking the prem and champions league or at least competing with it. On top of that - did I mention they are scum fkers? We oppose Greenwood, we oppose kicking cats and we should oppose fundamentalist regimes that have horrendous women's rights, sex trafficking and all the rest of it. Why should we have sold him and helped them not get relegation? What possible reason for dealing with those scum is there? To do Lingard a favor?

Your last sentence is just proving the point I've made.

Top players and especial top strikers don't need everything perfect to turn their own form around. They don't feel sorry for themselves they just want to score and win.

Let's just see the numbers & performances Martial posts vs Rashford towards the end of the season and see yeah?
Two wrongs don’t make a right
Martial has been beyond shit
Not just his poor stats but his contribution to the team is awful
Rashford for me is overhyped, not good enough to be starting out wide in an ideal world

compare martial against a good winger not rashford

But there is no player that does well at United over a prolonged period. At this point I cant blame many of our players but the culture of the club. Martial is a top player and has shown it many times but our stars cant progress for a variety of reasons and United is at fault.

Top players and top strikers rarely play in teams that aren't settled. People tend to make these kind of points but they barely exist.

I would, if there was one at the club readily available to do so

Problem is Martial is not a top player, never has been. So whether we have fit him perfectly or not is neither here nor there to me, it seems Utd and Martial have been made for each other.

He's won very little, he's never been close to one of the best players around in any position he's played, he's never strung 2 seasons together, he has never had the output of top players, he's a non-entity at international level. Need I go on?

He's been a moments player, the odd season player but ultimately manifesting in nothing. Never kicked us or himself on.

I don't think I have the words to convey the irritation I feel with the insistence of some on here to ignore personal responsibility, the onus that's on players to drive themselves regardless of what's going on around them. We have to create the right environment for Tony. Or Pogba. Or whoever. Anyone who thinks Martial's incredible level of shitness over the last 18 months is down to anybody else needs to cop on. He may very well do well at Sevilla. I hope he does. That's no proof that his horrendous level of ineffectiveness has been down to anyone but himself.

That we didnt bend over for a bunch of scum fkers?
I'm sure our Republican donors that have fund raised for Trump took the morals of Newcastle's owners into consideration when making the decision not to loan Lingard.
