Anthony Martial | Sevilla loan watch

So much talent. So much laziness. We gave him a five years contract after few good games back in 2019. We should insert a cap to our wages really. And make the difference with bonus in case someone really excels.

His loan has been pretty pathetic really. He’s done nothing to raise his profile beyond the lazy, sulking player he was portrayed as at United.
I can’t see anyone wanting to pay for him, let alone loan him next season. The new manager is going to have to work him into the side - along with Rashford. Both could be our forwards next season.

saw him play yesterday. It was the first time after being loaned out. Same old same old. No energy, no passion. Why the attitude on the pitch?

Let’s hope he does well for the last 9 games and Sevilla are tempted to buy him.

How do we keep ending up with these people who look like they don’t even enjoy football and with the work rate to back it up? Criminal altogether. We really need to throw a few cats amongst the pigeons asap and hopefully some actual leaders will emerge up front. All I see are players walking around, passing the buck and looking miserable

I don't think Sevilla suit him. They're quite a negative possession based tiki taka outfit. Put him in the RBL side in the BuLi and he'll get a hatfull.

I remember Memphis Depay employed some data analysts to find him which league and club suited him best after he left United. It kind of worked for him.

You know from these posts which people who hadn't seen the game. He was their best player, even his defensive stats were very good.

His pace has gone which is the big concern and that has been the case for a while.

He suits a quick transition side. Sevilla move the ball so slowly. However, all this is irrelevant if he can’t get his pace back. He’s bulked up to suit holding the ball up which is of no use now he’s wide again and he seems to have stamina issues ala Lukaku when he did the same. Still has that great close control dribble inside and he’s very good at linking play but if he can’t stay fit he’s never getting back to what he was as he’s one paced now. I also totally disagree about attitude - he’s always tracked back and did so yesterday - he’s just never been an intelligent footballer in terms of movement and at this stage he’s never going to be.

Relative to their position in La Liga, they play some of the worst football you could see in any top European league.

I thought that Kounde was their best player but West Ham were better than them on the night. Martial was one of the better performers of an underwhelming bunch but it wasn't anything to write home about.

In the Bundesliga, intense pressing is the norm and the players contest every possession and second ball like rabid dogs. He's so soft and shies so much away from challenges that he wouldn't last 10 matches at a top-four club there.

Still fresh in memory, when we're top of the League under Ole, and he put in one of the most disinterested performance I've ever seen against Sheffield. If chasing the Title didn't interest him, there's not much left in there as a United player.

Great decision by the club to get revenge on Sevilla. Can't beat them on the pitch? Lend them our virus
 It's all part of the plan. Like when Fergie sold Gibson and Neville to Everton. That Neville's own goal helped us on title race.

I don't begrudge him making as much money as possible in his career at all though - it's what any of us would do for our families as well. I do blame the people who offered him such a large contract and think they should be held accountable, however.

I have just noticed we have the option to extend a year after 2024. All you can do IMO is loan him to Italy, pray someone covers a good % of the wages, and that he will do a Lukaku/Abraham so we can sell him off for a decent amount. As stands, I don't think clubs would even pay £10mill with his current wages?
Ive got nothing against anybody making money... what I object to is somebody in Martials postition who basically takes the pee out of those people who pay to watch him play football for the club they love, people who, in probably 99% of the cases are paid much less than he is but who still try to get to as many matches as they can to see their team...and are then expected to support a lazy, uncaring prima donna as he strolls through the match without breaking sweat. And lets face it, Martial isnt alone in this, but if we can get shot of him we have to, even if it means taking a loss on his fee, at least he will be off the wage bill. Football is expensive to watch, but week in week out grounds are packed with supporters, many of whom have had to scrimp and save in order to be there, they deserve to watch players who at least try. And again, at Manchester United at least, Martial isnt the only one who can be accused of not trying.

Exactly. Defenders were afraid to go in for the tackle and would stand off him. His dribbling is still amazing and he rarely gave away the ball. He managed to find open teammates, even when double teamed, and got back into defensive position. He’s still jogging all over the pitch but once in the final third, he ignites. French league or Turkish league, maybe even Italy, would suit him.

Don't you understand that he has mental issues? That's why he is playing like that?
He needs help and support from the fans. Not abuse. Then all will be well.

Anthony Martial (59 ') against Sociedad (0-0) : "A huge lack of intensity. He did not win a single duel and his apathy caused boos in the stands. For the moment, it is a fiasco. 3/10"

You could apply that summary to any of his Utd performances the past 18 months and people would be none the wiser.

Hope Newcastle buy him. Nobody on the continent will be daft enough.

Do Martial and Rashford even want to be footballers anymore? What the hell happened.

Nobody is going to want this waste of space are they. Stuck with him on silly wages for the foreseeable

He'd do well in Serie A and nowhere else.

He's been shit for two seasons now and nobody in their right mind is going to take him on £240k p/w. Absolutely staggering incompetence that led to him commanding such a high wage.

Both were always streaky players who would be crap for three months and then have a month long purple patch where they would bang in 4-5 goals. This is where the fanbase would start glorifying them and comparing them to Mbappe, Kane etc. Then back to being crap again.

The only thing that has happened is that the purple patches have dried up.

What the actual feck is wrong with our players? Does our club just drain them of their will to achieve things in football or do we just turn them into entitled d*ckheads. I heard VDB's attitude was questioned by Lampard too.

Newcastle is a good shout to be fair, I can see them going for him in the summer.

Unfortunately they're about the only club who might be both rich and daft enough to take any of Martial, Maguire, Rashford, AWB... and there's no way they're daft enough to take all of them. :(

Maybe we could sort them a multipack deal.

Given what they did in January I don't think they're daft at all, will maybe try too hard to not be taken for mugs early on.

I have no doubt they'll finally take Lingard off our hands though, but we'll be the mugs there, letting a player we could have got a decent for go to a disgustedly funded club for nothing.

Throwing Rashford in there isnt fair. He's been abysmal this season but the previous four he's been fine.

He won't be leaving.

Definitely needs to be shipped out in the summer. Even though technically hes the perfect striker for a false 9/link up role, he just doesn't have the workrate but more importantly he has really got any aggressiveness in his play. Hopefully we can get 20-30mil for him.

I was at the game this evening, he was extremely poor. His body language is also a disgrace, the way he sauntered off around the pitch after getting subbed, its like he dosnt give a toss!
