Amad Diallo | Rangers loan watch

Some of them watched our youth games, I'd imagine. And Amad & Hannibal were simply incredible together.

The hype started before he joined. My point is fans go over board far too quickly.

The kid is lacking match rhythm due to not playing regularly for a good while. The Celtic game came too early for him. He should've been introduced gradually.
I thought it was strange putting into an Old Firm derby as his first start, it wasn't great management. It was almost as if GvB read the hype on here and thought feck me, we've got a player on our hands!

More concerning for Diallo is that he wasn’t second choice for his position. Sakala came on in his position and Ramsey came on in the other attacking midfield position. I thought he should have come on too.

GVB will have had one eye on Saturday’s cup fixture where Diallo will surely start, possibly alongside other players who were on the bench like Ramsey and Roofe. It’s an ideal opportunity to get minutes, albeit against a 4th tier side who play on plastic.

Unfortunately we play Dortmund a week today and Diallo’s chances of a start now look slim to zero. Saturday will be about playing himself into contention for an important league match a week Saturday, away at Dundee United.

That’s what I found concerning too. He appears to be 3rd choice at the moment for the right side. I feel he’s been harshly treated from the Celtic game. He should have closed down the first goal better but there was a bunch of individual errors in that game. And beyond that error he was no worse than anyone else. I hope he can get some more starts because I’m convinced he will show his quality.

Loan players are always the first to be ostracised when things aren't going well.

I think it's a bit overdramatic here with Amad situation right now.

Even if he ended up not playing enough, it would still serve up as reality check for the people at the club. They need to plan better before spending money on these potential players: path to first team, or a long term loan plan.

As for benefit, despite being an unused sub, or without meaningful sub minutes he is still being involved with first team and getting used to the professional life. Even that experience is valuable. Sometimes you get stuck in an undesirable situation. You would have to work through it. Going beyond the manager's wrong perspective of you even.

Good luck to him. No point to recall him or freak out about it. Only half season loan.

It's another odd signing. Bought with no plan of how to develop him. We're going into another summer where really we need to buy a right winger again.

Keep Diallo out on loan a few years to develop better, then sell him for a tidy profit if he can't get into our own team.

The hype around him from our fans was and is beyond a joke anyway. What has this kid done to deserve such praise? He wasn't even playing for Atalanta regularly.

One good dribble and our fans start going mental.

Seems like you haven't watched him outside his cameos for united

What have I missed? His performances for Atalanta weren't all that either. He wasn't anywhere near close to being the best player for them. He didn't even always start.

He was supposed to be a player that went on to replace Daniel James. But he couldn't even get a consistent game time when James was his only competition. He's just another Donny type of signing.

That's a bit unfair, he's a young raw talent who is getting accustomed to the game at the highest level. Donny arrived an experienced champions league player.

Donny came in from a title winning side and CL semi finalist - while Amad came in having under 10 games of men's football under his belt and regarded as one of most promising youth starlets.

Complete different story.

You can buy this kind of player as a bet or gamble, but for 1/2/3 million.

Him and Pellistri overpaid, you could risk to lose enough money

People in here are fecking deluded I swear.

He will probably come on against Dortmund and smash it, suddenly everybody swings in the opposite direction "best thing since Ronaldo, Haaland suck it"

He's barely been there 2 weeks yet, fighting in a competitive squad will do him some good. It's way better than him pissing around in the reserves or hoping for 5 minutes here every couple of months.

I'm not sure why people keep saying we have no plan to develop him. He's been a United player for just over 1 year. We kept him at the club for 6 months to try and acclimatize him and have a look at him, then tried to send him on loan to Feyenoord in August, but it fell through because of injury. You'd swear he's been at the club half a decade the way some of ye go on.

Correct. I mean he's the same as Donny in a way that we signed both of them without any clear plan of how to integrate them to the first team. We just thought it made sense (needed someone who could play as RW or in the case of Donny, Pogba's replacement). It made sense but impractical.

He will come good. I doubt he is match fit and that will be coming into things at the moment too. Arfield and Sakala are fully fit and playing well so I wouldn't be surprised if GVB is using the excuse that Diallo needs to sharpen up a bit. There's no reason for anyone to panic at this stage, he offers something very different to both those players and they offer something different to him.

The way of the Caf. Lots of scouting, coaching and managerial geniuses here. 20/20 hindsight professionals

The Sancho thread is everything you need to know about the Caf and how reactionary it is.

He was a highly youth player breaking into the first team, and Atalanta didn't play with wingers. Do you think he's highly rated for no apparent reason? Uniteds ineptitude on how their handling many of their star youth players should not be used as a stick to beat them with.

Starting today it appears. A chance to stake a claim to be part of the first team picture even if against poor opposition.

Also, it's game time anyway so that's good

Can’t find the game anywhere. Anyone who watches it let me know how he plays?

Good for him to be getting match experience playing under the sea. Will probably come in useful in a few years.

Bloody hell it looks grim up there in Scotland. Great learning experience for the lad!

I love the keeper's look, like are you going to make out you meant that. ;)

yeah. People are willing to give international player VDB one year of "adaptation" to new League. While the kid couldn't adapt in 2 wks? Get rid!!

Must be exciting for the 'ANN' fans to have Rangers come and play on their North Sea oil rig.
