In the Family Guy vs The Simpsons thread Mockney said that his favourite TV show of the 1990s was indeed The Simpsons.

Now i liked the show however thought that that was rather a tad excessive. So i thought we'd take nominations for your three favourite TV series of the decade and maybe i'll be even bothered to add them up and we'll have a poll.

Oh and where there is an overlap into the 2000s, there should be a fair proportion of episodes in the 90s.

I've decided on at least one, maybe two:

Time Team
Stargate SG-1

The Simpsons
The X Files

Both of them went down hill (in the X Files case, down hill, off the slope and into a tree) towards the late 90s early 2000s but in the Mid 90s where golden TV

I'll edit in the 3rd one when I think of it

Everybody has a strong affinity with their televisual era. Isn't that a given fact?

We've had some magnificent TV in this decade though:

- Planet Earth (which, invariably, i keep banging on about)

- Walking With Dinosaurs (although it looks rather shite by today's CGI)

- Lost and 24, although not my favourites, have brought about a different budgeting and style to television.

- The Inbetweeners is very good

- The Office is, and was, a classic. Hilariously depicting a strong-breeding variation of the idiotic and whimsical creature - homosapien.

I'd go as far as saying, although this opinion may not be popular or popularised, that Adam Smith's documentaries (aired on various BBC channels) have also been groundbreaking televisual experiences.

I love Charlie Brooker's 'Newswipe' and 'Screenwipe' and 'Chaser's War on Everything'.

Erm...

I still, occasionally, whistle to the them tune of 'The Antiques Road Show' and i've found a wicked:::::::: version of it - DRUM AND BASS - on youtube. I have been found to have taken grams and grams of Methylenedioxymethylamphetamine whilst raving and reminiscing of Sundays at my Grandma's - over-boiled veg and a quaint air of excrement.

Kids TV just isn't the same nowadays though.

Simpsons + 2 more.

I wanna say Only Fools and Horses but maybe its more of an 80s show.

Northern Exposure
The Simpsons
Father Ted
The Nazis: A warning from History

though theres a some I would have in there which the first series was in the 90s but the second series was in the 00s like Spaced and Im Alan Partridge

Red Drawf! I know it started in the 80's but the early 90's had the best seasons known to man, altho it did tale off after 1997... Simpsons however probably tops that.

Cant really look much further than The Simpsons - consistently great for years

not sure about 2nd and 3rd - of those mentioned so far, I was always a fan of:
Later With Jools Holland
Sienfeld
X Files
Fresh Prince

and how about:
The Word

cant really remember exactly which things were 90s and which were 00s though

Duck tales all the way. Dinosaurs I think it was done by the people that did the Muppets that was great.

I was trying to remember the name of this for the nostalgia thread!

Buffy the vampire slayer*
The Simpsons
Red Dwarf
Kenan and Kel
Eerie, Indiana

*Buffy started in 97 but went on until 2003 so don't know if that can count
.

I think it would count, BTVS is my all time favourite show, I just love it. (I love Angel too but I think that started in 1999, probably a little too late for this topic).
