I always thought it was either "Where you here when I was full sail?" or "where you here when I was falling?".
Apparently it was in fact meant to be "Were you hare when I was fox?".
i know...to be fair though its pretty hard to get that line when listening to tims original version, its clearer on the version from the monkees tv programme.
excellent song no matter what though, this mortal coil's version is a thing of beauty.
