This was always going to be tricky. We simply do not do well when expected to. It's been our achilles heel since Fergie left.

Mates, we have them where want them. Pogba and Greenwood to come on early in the second half and we smash them to bits.

Yes, but when you talk about their qualities you will first say technique then crossing then maybe dribble then scoring goals and then as 5th or 6th trait you will say hard work. When attacker's best quality is hard work then something is wrong

Sure but Martial is the opposite. All the talent and no work rate. It goes hand in hand.

He's done more than Kane this half.
I don't really care for Kane - I can look at Martial and say he's been dogshite so far. He's far more hot/cold than Kane is, if you really want to compare players.

Harsh scoreline I think we were playing better and looked more likely
The main difference is attacking talent
Martial isn’t anywhere good enough nor is James and that’s the only difference

It's like we haven't been away from the game. Same old bollox. Concede the first goal and things go to shit. I haven't missed watching this tripe. I was happier when the football wasn't on!

Amazing how we got the first booking after Davies' cynical foul to stop a counter, and Lamela's late lunge, yet it was James' nothing foul by Spurs' own corner flag that gets the first card. Wild.

We didn’t deserve to go behind but we have been really poor since. Of course we are still in the match but I don’t see us getting back into this, we are now just playing into their hands. They are countering really well and our passing game isn’t good enough to break them down. I thought it would be a draw but think this finishes 2 0 Spurs now.

Scot isn't having a good game in midfield. He's lost the ball unnecessary at times

We are playing (or are being made to play) all the game on right hand side of the pitch where AWB and James have been atrocious with their passing accuracy. If they could pass well, we could build up the game on right hand side, play it out of there towards the middle and exploit the space on left hand side. Much like Tottenham are doing.

James is lightweight against this lot, Greenwood is needed with his trickery and cutting inside

Shaw has been by far our worst player in this half. What's this, ridiculous! All their good attacks came from his side. It's a free landscape for them to move on as they want. There're some rusty players but he's the worst among them.

Anyway unfortunately we started great then fecked it up in the goal and could never managed to make a comeback from the shock state we entered since then.

But there's a full 45 minutes coming and we have great options on the bench to turn this around, beside, I still believe their defense is bound to have a big mistake at one point.

I'm sure we can at least finish this 1-1 and may even win if we just managed to restore our composure.

Forgot about our lovely loose passing in the final third

I think a lot of people forgot a lot of things. During the suspension of the league it seemed as though our players became better and Ole's stock kept rising. I checked this thread before the game and some people were saying we should be destroying Spurs (or similar). We've not been that kind of team for maybe a decade. But a few OK results in Jan and Feb and it's a new dawn :wenger:

    well

    Fred-Mctominay hasn't worked

    AWB-James hasn't worked

killed us really. Need Greenwood, Pogba and Matic

Yep, Ole with completely naive tactics. Brutally exposed by Jose.

Even Spurs fans didn't expect this. Complete feck up from the first minute.

Ole's clearly tried to carry on the good feels from before lockdown. It's not working out so far.

Can't say we can have too many complaints. Most were happy with the lineup when it was announced and had he gone with a back 5 people would have slated him.

He's got to change something, but let's not jump in too blindly.

We’re not good enough technically in the wide areas. James, AWB, Shaw are aren’t good enough technically and thus it’s affecting us in tight situations where we’re looking to play in triangles etc.
And with that said we need more movement from the wide players, Rashford especially who is remaining central and leaving the aforementioned either having to beat a man with skill or simply pass backwards.

We need some rotation on the wing for a quick one two, a yard of space & speculative cross, plus runs from the midfield two of McTominay and Bruno to get in the box. We'll never play through them especially now 1 down.

I really don't get Ole starting with James in this sort of game. Very bad idea for my liking.

Def need pogba on for mctominay. Kept trying to understand the idea that Bruno alone would be able to create enough when we had that same issue with pogba alone. Especially against a mou team that was gonna sit deep.

So how many seasons does De Gea get to cost us top 4 on the basis of once being good? Last time we got CL qualification was with Romero in the team too in the EL anyway.
