Coming round to the idea that Pogba is better off coming off the bench. A midfield of Fred, Fernandes and Matic is good enough IMO with Pogba coming on later.

You lot have been so confident since the lockdown. Now the footy's actually back you are bricking it!
I wanted this match done before the lockdown. Now Spurs have got Kane and Son back, and N'dombele can now presumably run more than 10 metres without being worn out.

When was the last time anyone witnessed one of those

I don't know if he's pulled them off with Spurs as I haven't been paying attention to their games, but I know he produced his fair share when managing us - the Liverpool and City games spring to mind. He'd love nothing more than to produce one against his old club tonight.

Yeah, but we have Rashford and Pogba back who otherwise wouldn't have been available.

I really fancy us to pull it off tonight.

I think this is lazy observation that I keep seeing.

We beat you with a mdifield of Fred, Mctom and Lingard?

If your saying Pogba doesn't contribute defensively, that's also been proven false many times.

That midfield contained two solid defensive minded players and a hard working CAM. While limited in terms of creativity, it's certainly more balanced than a combination of Fred, Pogba and Bruno.

It should really work in our favour playing an away game when there’s no crowd. But I’ve no idea how it’s going to turn out, how the players will respond, will they be in peak fitness or will they feel it having not played for months. I’m both excited to watch the lads again and also not particularly excited at the same time.

I'd bet a good bit of money that black lives matter will score today. I can just feel it.

On another note why has Pogba not starting been all over the news this week?
    Who is leaking this stuff?

Kane, Son and Moussa Sissoko are confirmed to start, said Mourinho. (MEN)

Sissoko is actually perfect this type of scenario, obviously his football ability is limited but his energy will be important for spurs in the coming weeks.

What worries me is that Mourinho did start his Spurs reign on fire, when he had most of his star players fit. But of course we're also in a much better place ourselves with Rashford and Pogba back. Either way, difficult to know how this one will pan out, could be anything from a 3-0 dubbing for either side, to a snore 0-0 fest.

I hope Pogba, Martial and Shaw all score.

This idea that a midfield w/o Pogba rather than with him is better for whatever reasons, is one of the most ridiculous myth that has somehow managed to be perpetrated on these boards for a while now.

I dont remember beating Liverpool under Jose but maybe I am wrong

Do people here believe in the leaked team? It's an underwhelming formation and player selection IMHO.

Judging by the last few years that makes it more likely to be true.

    What is it?

I'll judge the starting XI come full time. We don't know how the players have looked in training or are feeling fitness wise. We can't go gung-ho against Spurs either.

I didn't say anything about Pogba in my post. I just don't think that looks a particularly balanced midfield.

i would go with this more or less

    Rashford----------------Martial--------------------James/Greenwood
    ------------------------------Bruno-------------------------------------------------------
    --------------------Fred--------------------Matic-----------------------------
    Shaw----------Maguire------------Lindelöf-------------Wan B.-----------------
    ----------------------------------De Gea--------------------------------------------------

Pogba, McTominay, James/Greenwood, Ighalo, Bailly/Williams from the bench

103 days since the last game means it’s hardly a continuation of the same season. Most players get less time off in World Cup years.

If the vision is of a midfield consisting of Pogba & Fernandes they surely must start together tonight.

We’ve played multiple friendlies, got 5 subs & it’s against Mou, I see no reason not to start Pogba & go for it from the off.

    Rashford brace in 2017-18 season.
Then got benched(if not benched then moved to the right) the next game to accommodate Sanchez or something of the likes. Mourinho's management was weird at time here at United.
