Apparently we’ve been going 4-3-3 in training, hopefully we see this.

    —————-De Gea—————
    AWB—Bailly-Maguire-Shaw
    —————-Matic——————
    ——-Fred————Bruno——-
    James—-Martial—-Rashford

Pogba and Fernandes have constantly been on the same team in training supposedly.

I've been flip flopping all week, but I think he's going to throw them both in and try and take the game from spurs early. Knowing we've got the legs in 2 of McT/Fred/Matic to defend a lead if we need to.

Has a real new season feel about it , can't wait for Friday. With so few games left very little margin for error , a defeat on Friday and a Chelsea win over the weekend really puts us with an uphill task.

Don't get this talk of Pogba not starting and been eased back in etc.

Nobody has played a competitive game in months so no one is 100% match fit and Pogba has bee in back in full training and back to full fitness for a while now. No reason at all not to start him if his head is right and by all accounts he is raring to go. We need to hit the ground running here.

If Pogba and Bruno aren't both in the squad, then I don't know what Ole is thinking. Still 3 points behind, and EL is going to be a tossup now. Best players need to play. I love Fred, I love Matic, and I love McTominay, but two of them are going to be shit out of luck.

Being tactically sound maybe ? The thought of just throwing your best players in regardless of any consideration about tactic or current circumstances will win you matches is pretty naive imo. Football is not that simple, if so no club would have to spend millions hiring the best coaches. All they need to would be buying the best players available then throw them in.

So far we've been really good with counter attacking. Not so good with breaking tight defense. Knowing Mourinho we can be pretty sure he would park the bus and counter. If we go all out from the start that basically means we'll play into their plan. What if one of our backline has a brainfart due to lacking match fitness and Kane or Son score a goal? Our game plan is officially screwed and now we're forced to chase the game with them parking the bus and counter. Not very nice scenario imo.

As I've said, imo we should start relatively slow for 20-25 min to get the rhythm back, it's been like 3 months our players haven't played. If we score, great. If not, at least don't concede. And we'll have an idea of how Spurs would do after this long break, as well as ourselves. Then make changes accordingly, we have 5 subs anyway.

We've never played with both Pogba and Bruno. After a 3 months break, a must win match, lot of unknowns, a tough opponent who 99% would sit and counter is probably not the right match to try new stuff I think.

What about Ole tells you he is tactically sound? Match Day threads have been losing their mind for the last 12 months on his decisions. The two best players we have are arguably Bruno and Pogba (cries for Rashford and Martial are understandable), if he can't find a way to make those two work in a system speaks volumes about him as a manager. It's his job to make things work, and it is my job as a fan to have expectations.

Beating all the top teams including Pep 3 times... It’s clear that Ole is tactically sound and anyone who says otherwise hasn’t been paying attention. Ole has shown significant tactical flexibility using 4-5-1, 5-3-3 and the 4-4-2 to great effect this season. We have one of the best records against the top 6 in the league all whilst having to play the season with a ridiculous number of injuries to our key players.

Ole and his tactical settup are in fact the very reason why Ferandes was able to come straight into the team and perform, he was given the perfect platform to do so. And now I believe we will see Ole handle the Pogba situation well too because he’s proven in his time here, that he generally always makes the logical decisions.

Match day threads are no way to judge a team, the only thing match day threads can judge is how emotional or drunk people are when watching!

Our discussion was never about Ole being tactical sound or not. What we are discussing is about not starting both Pogba and Bruno next match. According to you it should be considered illogical or tactically inept aka "don't know what Ole is thinking" (that's what you mean right?). According to me, it's maybe logical and tactically sound. That's all.

    Please focus on the subject.

Btw imho the job of a manager is to win matches and titles. By making some players to work well together or sell some, buy some and make them work well together. Whatever may help him achieve the above. And definitely not to please some random demands/expectations from some random fan. Unless that fan happens to be the owner of the club, who I don't really think you are.

If Pogba doesnt play the case for not doing it is to honor the players that were in form. Matic, Fred and Bruno were playing brilliantly together and were the catalyst for our good form before the lock down. I would respect it if Ole says you three were playing well and will start. Pogba and McTominay you will get your chance in the second half. When you do prove you deserve your place.

Hours situation is different from Rashford's. We have very few decent wide men.

    Where did you hear this

The Manchester F.A. tweeted this quote from Phelan where he talks about the "4-3-3 we're using"

However, Ole has used the 3-4-1-2 against 'big' teams hasn't he this season, so we may see that against Spurs.

In fact I just read a really interesting article by Michael Cox:

He reckons we should use that formation more but use James at RWB to make it more attacking against 'lesser' sides.

Have to say, their no-longer-injured players (Kane) worry me more than ours (Rashford, Pogba) fill me with conifidence. If we win this, I'd say we are highly likely to snatch fourth spot butI don't trust Jose not bugger things up for us!

I've seen this before. When he says the 4-3-3 we are using isn't he talking about the matches we've played already where we were shaped in a 4-3-3. Also was Pogba back around the time he said this?

I've always thought we should try James as a wing back too. He presses alot for the ball and tracks back

Because we have more quality players than them the scenario before the break of no Rashford/Pogba/Son/Kane probably suited us more in a way, especially considering the form of the 2 sides.

Basically been a reset this break, has that new season feeling where you’re not sure who’s going to be fastest out the blocks.

Not bothered about Kane at all.

Son and giving Jose the ability to make 5 subs are the biggest problems.

Exactly this. Jose knows how and when to use subs and on the other side we have Ole whos not good at it.
For Son; i believe in AWB.

Not if the subs don't do what he wants them to do. At that point he will probably use the new rule to sub the subs and be overly tactical for no reason and piss everyone off.

People spent their time during Mourinho's stay here criticizing his subs every chance they got but as soon as he left, his subs and tactics are back to being godly again. Just goes to show the Caf mentality where it's imperative to over hype the opposition while under appreciating what we've got ourselves.

OMG, you haven't got, like, one of those names right.

Yeah it's massive. Especially when for a large portion of the season we've had Fred and Matic as the only available CMs and no AM outside of Lingard/Pereira/Mata

The turnaround through injuries and signing Bruno has been huge.

Jose is going to try to choke this game and he'll first and foremost want to protect against our pace.

Think Spurs will play deep and we will be playing a team who play on the counter.

bit of a dilemma but I think in a game like this quality will count and it could well be a 1 nil. With that in mind and with scores to be settled I think I would play

    ----------------------DDG---------------------
    AWB----- Bailly---Maguire---Shaw
    -------------Fred-----Matic-------------
    ---------Bruno---------Pogba---------
    ----------Martial----Rashford-------

think the strikers can drag CBs wide and open up acres of space for Pogba/Bruno who could really take advantage

think it provides a wee bit of security too - think Tony, Pogba and Rashford will be up for leaving Jose with a bloody nose

Excited as hell but I have a feeling Spurs are going to win this one. Kane will score and Jose will bring on 5 defenders at half time

There is as you say no margin for error at any level.

You can be absolutely sure that Jose has been thinking about this very game for ages.
And of course the midfield will be key.

Both sides are capable of beating each other.
It will be down to whoever deals with the conditions better.

    Let battle commence.

Nah, there has always been the option of a refund or putting the money towards next seasons ticket and I thought last week it was time to cash in. They refunded the LASK home game to me straight away and said 16th for the remaining 4 season ticket games but to keep an eye on emails etc.

I can't imagine there being a deadline to renew for next season until this one is complete and we've an idea when it's going to begin.
Thanks again for the heads up on this, just done it now. The next pencilled in date for refunds is 30th June if you haven't received yours yet.

No probs! I got an email yesterday saying mine has been processed and I'll get it in a couple of days. Wasn't sure if that was just me or everyone!

Wouldn’t be surprised if that cheeky cnut Mourinho had sneaked his players into Tottenham’s training complex weeks ago.

    I reckon 3-0 to somebody.

Tottenham if Jose has done his reverse Escape to Victory and us if not.

Excuse me? I don't know what you've been drinking over there.
