He was - but you actually have to understand football to see itWasn't the best of victories, but the defence was excellent. Our biggest problem was that we made a lot of wrong decisions during attacking possession. I thought Sancho held the ball really well and would have wanted him to stay on instead of Rashford. Considering that our entire midfield is makeshift (2 AMs playing as CMs and a CM playing as a DM), we did quite well. 3 points in the bag, onwards to the next game.Glad Maguire wasn't part of that and Fred only had limited mins as he should at the Max. Things heading in the right direction.

Casemiro should strengthen the midfield multifold. Mctominay was immense.
Well we are using a makeshift midfield. Bruno and Eriksen are AMs while McTominay is a CM rather than a DM. With Casemiro coming in and Fred probably taking over Eriksen, there might be better balance.
He did keep us in the game though and made a vital save to win all points.

Replace Mctominay with Casemiro and we still have the same issues, Eriksen and Bruno wont control a midfield unless its against really weak opposition. Thats why i said a rethink, we cant play with Eriksen and Bruno in the same line up for me.Shaw to Malacia

I remember a certain Henrikh Mkhitaryan was like that.Starting midfield until further notice should be Casemiro, Fred and Eriksen. Mctominay is like playing with 10 men when we have the ball. Bruno gives the ball away 95% of the time he touches it. Other 5% he does a good thing and then normal service resumed. It simply is not up to standard for a team that wants to go anywhere.

And how did McTominay play today? Wouldn't say he was bad but constantly hid from the ball as per. Would have preferred Fred if we didn't start Casemiro, who's had a couple of games for Madrid and been training as much as our lot has.

Because it’s a polite way to say that he’s dreadful in attack. TAA, Hakimi and Cancelo are examples of players who play at a higher level than they would if they played in midfield or attack.
