Shaw is a massive loss I would have been very optimistic with this performance and him in the side going forward :(
I agree that Shaw will be a massive loss, we can only hope that he makes a full recovery, and wish him all the best. I do think that the guy who tackled him was careless and lunged in dangerously. He should have been sent off and a penalty awarded.

It's going to stay shocking with Rooney (who has blown hot and cold all of his career) and by that I mean he normally goes on a decent streak of scoring or not. When he's on fire he is quality, but his non scoring streaks tend to last around 10 games.

We've then got Marital, who've I've referred to a pub player on here earlier, which was an angry reaction to a loss. But I've not seen a great deal of encouragement, that's not against the lad, but what we need is someone to bang the goals in and I don't see it happening for years to come (if it does)
Martial a pub player? I think you have been in the pub too long.

Don't worry.. the moaners find a way to moan about anything even if we win. The best way to deal with their posts is to use "ignore" option for excessive moaners. I just hope some of them are not on "Suicide-Watch" already.

They act like we used to win every game 5-0 during Fergie's era.
Yea forgot about the weed killer option.

I genuinely don't know how to respond to that but to put the laughing gif in. It was a reckless challenge but he went for the ball and not for the foul which was your initial point. Get the hold of yourself.

Get a clue in my opinion he went to clean him out. Rather a pen then a goal

You think otherwise which is not my issue but you had to go further.

First you said "why would he try and foul him in the box" which is worthy of plethora of green smileys

So you back tracked on that point and are now trying to cover your tracks.

Not sure why you would spend this time and energy defending an opposition players horrendous challenge that could mean the end of a dream career for our young lad and have not spent any time or energy in showing concern for Shaw.

Agree fully. Hope the lads will do him proud for the rest of the season

That was a really good game to watch. Not bored at any point. Schweinsteiger finally looked tired, he is human after all. He could probably do with that rest now. Shaw is a really good player, Utd fans were right that he was worth every bit of the £28m. Sickening injury, makes me want to throw up whenever I see images of leg injuries.

Generally the commentary team on sky/bt gets information about the injury and how long he will be out. I am watching some foreign stream. So I asked
Nope. Do you think Sky send a doctor with a portable x ray machine running after the stretcher or something? How would sky know 20 minutes after it has happened?

    Wise up.

Horrible horrible injury for Shaw - hope he recovers ala Valencia and is back next year.

The subs killed us... and our profligacy first half. But we looked good going forward at times.

A bad night - hopefully it doesn't break our season.

This annoys me the most about the tackle. 'Careless' is the perfect word. People are saying 'oh he didnt mean it' or 'there was no bad intent' but it was lazy, watch it again. Shaw is bombing it through, and Moreno goes straight through Shaw from almost a stand still. I just cant believe how it wasnt considered a yellow at the very least.

The referee was letting every big challenge go last night. And PSV took advantage of it.

That tackle ruined me for the majority of the game tbh. Our back 4 has been solid and Moreno has singlehandedly ruined that defence for at least 6 months. Shaw had been fighting to perfect that LB role in our currently setup, it required a lot of fitness to do what he did. Its not by chance that he's looked worldclass, he said himself it taken a lot of work to get to the demands of the LB role LVG wants it to be.

If he went to clean him out it would be a red card for him in the early stages of the game and a penalty for us which is most certainly a goal, it would benefit only us, he's not stupid.

I saw a post of you calling him a cnut and I was saying that he didn't go for the player, he went for the ball and for Shaw I'm concerned but should I spam here on every thread that his career is at stake and that we may lost an incredible talent, no but again that doesn't mean that I'm not concerned.

Again, relax and look at the footage later when you're calmed down.

Strangely, I feel this was one of our best performances for quite some time. We attacked more, there was more pace and we created some excewllent chances (ni idea what Mata is up to!). But got that old feeling at 1-1 that we were going to lose 2-1 or 3-1. Shows up our lack of a quality goal scorer. As for the Shaw challenge, a Chelsea mate says Moreno shoudl be banned for the same amount of time that Shaw is out injured!

Unlucky to say least and this loss resembles the loss we had against Basel few years back.

No change on my view on it mate. Didn't catch his name (I think it was Mike Hulse??) former prem referee was on talk sport this morning and says that that should have been a red and a ban as it was reckless and brutal and went through the UEFA Handbook on serious foul play etc. The excuse for going for the ball while taking a player out during or after the tackle is not valid any more as they have taken the word "Internet" out of the verbiage to clarify the rule.

The reason I called the opposition player a Cnut is because of the way he celebrated the goal with complete disregard to what happened to a fellow human being and professional colleague especially since he was the one that caused it intentionally or not.

I am not comfortable discussing the way I responded to his actions and how they were inappropriate in your opinion when there are more important things to be concerned about.

I will leave it at that mate

Obviously only a useless like you will assume I asked for the doctor's report. They can roughly estimate based on previous experiences. Plus there are doctors who can do the same. You really are senseless

Hardly. Herrera was missing out in game after game when he was obviously the most appropriate option. Schneiderlin's up against two of the best midfielders of their generation, Schweinsteiger and Carrick, he was never going to play every game.

It was a joke, obviously the manager rates Schneiderlin, it's just the case he'll spend some time in the team and some time on the bench, that's football.

That is what I was thinking, he is having to learn the philosphy.

He's probably rated by the manager. Herrera obviously was too but preseason suggested he wasn't and also Herrera was the casualty when Louis gave Januzaj his chance but evidently the manager is trying to find a role for Herrera and experimenting.

I think that's exactly what PSV was, an experiment with a more attacking line up comprising of a more creative midfielder in the midfield two.

Evidently a problem of it is how susceptible we are to the counter (perhaps somebody with better defensive positioning and instincts and prevent counters before they are in full motion) and Louis van Gaal probably anticipated this hence his decision not to use Herrera deeper in the premier league. He still wanted to experiment with the idea and the champions league is better than the premier league at the moment for that.

That lineup looked great, but in hindsight maybe it needed to be a midfield 3. When he decided amazingly to take Herrera off it left BFS trying to do everything on his own. If Carrick or Morgan had been in there as well, then the midfield as a whole might have functioned a lot better, or it might have been better having Carrick with Ander. Then have 3 up front, Memphis, Martial and either Young or Mata.

Well you asked for "confirmation" about 20 minutes after it happened. Doesnt get more senseless.

Roughly does not mean the same thing as confirmation.

This is the first game under LVG that I have been happy with the way we played. Until he made some perplexing substitutions towards the end of the game.

M&M (Martial & Memphis) have started to show some nice link up play and understanding which will be very exciting moving forewords. I only wish that Shaw down the same side would have been involved down that flank with them, would have been a real plus for us.

For the first time we really had the chances to score a hat full of goals whereas before we only had negative possession in non threatening areas and the opposition were happy to sit back and watch us do nothing until we lost possession and got hit on the break.

For the first time we had positive possession in threatening areas and the opposition were wilting under the pressure. The stark contrast was highlighted when LVG reverted to plan F ans stuck Fellaini up front and went back to the style and tempo which is our downfall as explained above. Had he kept it the same and only replaced Shaw the goals would have come.

If ever there was a "Duh" moment to underline the reasons for not going back to that previous shape/Style of play it was this. Just hope someone is intelligent enough or brave enough to point it out.

As most teams we had plenty of games we dominated under SAF and came out with a loss or a draw it happens. The marked difference here is that last year and early this season we cannot honestly say we positively dominated the game with chances and pressure in attacking areas until this game in my opinion. Lets just hope we do Shaw proud moving forward and he comes back to a strong and flourishing side. He wen't out doing what United should be doing and what the United spirit is all about throughout our History going for the throat trying to make something happen and exciting the Fans and footballing world.

Now this is the part that I agree on.
