After Saturday, I'd say we're going out of this competition too

This game couldn't have come at a worse time. No striker to hold the ball up means Bruno running around like a headless chicken and the whole team looking a complete shambles.

Our only hope of silverwear as well.

Can see Elanga causing us real issues. Forrest are dangerous on the break and that worries me.

For the love of god please don't start Rashford upfront (Hopefully don't start him a all)

Forest may rest players for this one. Having said that, still won't help us!

I don’t think we will rest players as Nuno has said he wants a cup run. The issue is that after the Villa shit show, who is actually in form. After West Ham the first 11 was nailed and looked good. Post Villa 5 or so of them had an absolute shocker. If we make changes it will be because of form. The only issue is Awoniyi who was subbed at half time. There is no talk of it being injury related so may have been tactical.

    Forest to win comfortably

United are pretty much finished this season now with the injuries to Martinez, Shaw and Hojlund.

I have to be the one to ask - does it go to a replay if it is a draw?

I am comfortable at 2-2. And it'll go to either a replay or extra time based on whichever one it is.

If Rashford starts, we probably lose. Need all 11 players to put in a shift away in the FA cup.

    I'd go with:

    Onana

    Lindelof Willy Varane Dalot

    Mainoo Eriksen Amrabat

    Amad, Mctom, garnacho

I'd say it could with him.

There has to be another way - somebody please think of the children

Rashford left, Antony right and... someone through the middle?

Someone suggested playing Antony at right back, which might not be a bad idea, tbh, then an actual full back (Dalot) can play on the left.

Can't fault Antony's work rate and tracking back, so, as a makeshift full back it could work. A better option than Lindleof, probably.

He'd get found out against Elanga or whoever will play on the left. He works hard but has no idea about defensive positioning as a fb, would lose all aerial duels in the box etc. A defender as a fb would be a much better option. Antony’s right foot is also non-existent. Not ideal for a right back.

Never in a million years is ETH playing 3 at the back

    So, you prefer Lindleof?

Antony and Rashford are two reasons to do something else for that 90 mins.

how the hell did it come to this!

It’ll be Hudson -Odoi cutting on his right foot - though Elenga and CHO do swap sides throughout the game.

Whoever you pick I would have no confidence in Antony as fb defending them one-on-one, tracking their runs, competing in the air etc.

I do think we will go out, once this team has 3-4 injuries everything goes to pot and as much as I like EtH and want him to succeed, he doesn't seem able to make the right adjustments to be able to play football when he's missing key players. I understand that it's hard for anyone to be successful with these kinds of injuries, but I do think he should be able to set up his team in a way that we can migrate our way past Fulham and Nottingham Forest even with nearly half the squad out...

Probably not in a position where EtH can leave out important players either as three losses in a row (extremely possible, arguably even more likely than not now) could cost him his job. If not being sacked soon, then almost certainly at the end of the season if we don't turn things around from the Everton game onward with Hojlund and a few others back.

As a right back? To Antony? Yeah. Or Kambwala.

And who do we play through the middle?

Bruno false 9? I think we tried that trick before and it didn't work?

feck knows, we have so few options outside the 'first 11' and half of those are injured.

Will Casimero be fit, or on concussion leave?

The one thing that does give me hope is United didn’t seem able to deal with our speed on the break a month ago. I guess it depends on how we contrive to give goals away through cockups and set pieces.

It's got to the stage where any suggested line up looks poor given all the injuries.

I edged towards preferring to being in McTominay at #10, moving Bruno to the right, for the Fulham game and I'd again probably prefer that - especially if Casemiro is out as McTominay will strengthen the CM more than Bruno. And I'm not sure if Varane will be able to play weekend-midweek-weekend so he might get rotated out.

So I'd probably, with absolutely no confidence, go with...

    Onana

    Dalot
    Varane / Evans
    Maguire
    Lindelof

    Mainoo
    Casemiro / Amrabat

    Fernandes
    McTominay
    Garnacho

    Rashford

If we keep Bruno at #10, then I think I'd prefer us go with Antony ahead of Amad or Forson - just because there's a lack of goals in there and, without a proper #9, I think we're going to be even more dependant on individual moments and selfish shooting - and I think Antony's more likely to get a goal than the other two.

Right so Maguire should start up front instead of a player who has played plenty as a striker?

I'm obviously exaggerating with Maguire, but McT or Amad absolutely could.

The fact that Rashford has played plenty as a stiker is almost irrelevant at the moment. He won't play well up there, you know it, I know it, so why bother?

Defeat at Forest will be the beginning of the end for ETH and many players although I bet Sir Dave Brailsford has already drawn up a list of those that will be leaving at the end of the season. If ETH doesn't start Amad up front ETH has lost it. The lad is quality and a worker and should be a good replacement for Hojlund.

But he is absolutely capable of doing it and has done before, Amad would get bullied out of there and McTominay would lose his ability to ghost into the box so he won’t score any goals.

It’s hardly an unreasonable decision to start Rashford up top and imagine the outrage if he started any of those listed up top as we would obviously still lose.

Right now he isn't, and all it does is damage his confidence/play him out of form even more.

He was actually starting to do OK on the left and positively contributing, why move him away from there? We've now weakened ourselves in two positions instead of one.

Do you honestly think Rashford is capable of playing well against Forest if we start him up front?

Course he is! He is not in the best form but course he is capable of playing well he’s out of form, he’s not dead.
