I always find when teams go all out attack with their line-ups that they usually find it hard to create chances, let alone score them. The balance seems abit off...well it did when I played PES.

    --------------------DDG----------------
    Martinez--Bruno--Rashford--Casemiro
    ------------Varane----Antony---
    Shaw--------Sancho------Weghorst----
    -------------------AWB-------------------------

    I like this

I hope AWB has some goalkeeping skilss

Not sure about the back 3 though

Nice lineup*. Fred needed a rest and hopefully Casemiro will sit out Betis midweek. Southampton are not a good team so somebody of his calibre should be able to deal with them.

    *probably means we'll lose.

Hope this team works. Might persuade ETH to just play 1 holding midfield in future games.

Or really doesn’t rate Scotty McT

Fact he can’t get a game with two CM’s injured and one rested tells us a lot.

Lineup bit if a surprise, hard to know what version of Southampton will turn but positive we have set up to attack them.

Thought Sancho was totally uninspiring when he played as the n10 ,from the off, against Newcastle Barcelona but he has shown in sub roles that he can effect the game.

We’ll get this done. It would be great to see Weggy finish his chances more cleanly.

Think you're talking about Barcelona, because prior to that game he came on against Leicester as a 10 and did really well, but as you said, it didn't really work against Barca.

Hoping he can do well today because I believe he has the attributes to play there. Just needs to not be so casual on the ball, as he will have less time on the ball than what he's used to in wide areas.

Ten Hag is desperately trying to find a solid role in the team for Sancho, I feel.
As I don't think Hag is totally convinced that Sancho will be a effective wide man for him.

Strong team to begin with and if in a good comfortable lead then make some changes. Hope to see more of Pellistri, the lad deserves more minutes.

    De Gea

    Wan-Bissaka - Varane - Martinez - Shaw

    Casemiro - Fred

    Antony - B.Fernandes - Rashford

    Weghorst

Heaton, Dalot, Lindelof, Malacia, McTominay, Pellistri, Sancho, Garnacho, Elanga

    Manchester United 3-1 Southampton
love to see Pellestri and Garnacho on at same time. either tearing down the wings or try G down the middle. his speed would leave some CBs simply watching

    Casemiro: I want challenges
    EtH: Take a look a this line-up.

    Casemiro sheds a tear

You're right. Convinced Sancho played in the cup final.

I had hoped Garnacho could buy a start, but Weghorst is the man apparently.

Hoping for a high scoring game, Ten Hag has really gotten Rashford rolling after newyears.

Sancho I put in. My 11 to start, WW is a constant and the ETH likes what he does, he played well on Thursday. I hope Martial is able to get minutes in Thursday, he's needed from now till end of season. Bruno be in a 2 with Casimero or its 4-3-3. Whatever just fecking win. Come on lads

    Curious if it is:

    ----------Weghorst
    Rash / Sancho / Antony

    ------------------Rash
    Sancho / Weghorst / Antony

Potential for a lot of movement anyway.

Pretty solid line up. Only question here is ETH is trying to kill Bruno or what. Honestly the guy has simply played too fecking much football lately imho. Fred or McT would do a job here I think.

    Well, neither is McTominay.
Well, you can justify any player in midfield role using this argumentation.

In the end it's about team performance and not individual players quality - if neither of the available options are good enough midfielders. I don't think the team played particularly bad when McTominay played there, doing the dirty/basic job so personally I would still go with him. But I have no problem with this decision, fully trust ETH if he wants to try that out.

I'm not convinced this experiment with Bruno and Sancho is going to turn out great.

I suppose there's the option for fluidity with Sancho moving to the left if it doesn't work, but I'm predicting Sancho gets subbed off early in the second half.

Ugh, I though this was on premier sports in Ireland but it doesnt look like it is?

As long as McT is the alternative, yeah, pretty much. And Bruno isn't an outlandish choice there, at home against the 20th.

I really think this is a bad idea but let's see. ETH clearly trusts Bruno and wants him in the team no matter what. He is getting him the numbers so I have no problem with that, just don't think it makes sense to restrict his role with more defensive duties.
I think you get more control and better decision making with Sancho as a 10 while reducing Bruno's turnovers as he's less intent on the killer ball. I don't think it's something we'll see often, but we should be dominating the game today so I think it makes sense to blitz them.
