Anyone else worried by the 5 goals in 9 league games or is it just me? Yes our defence has improved especially with the shield Morgan now provides but with regards of going forward with an end product we have been wank for a while now, it can't all be about 'if we had more luck'...we need to sign a forward before 1/9

Memphis was a bit shit today, and Valencia just slowed us down so much. God knows why he took Darmian off.

He probably wanted to bring power and explosion in on that side with Valencia actually trying to beat his man and crossing it in.

It's a stat. On the evidence of the previous two games we should be worried. On the evidence of today we are improving and it was largely down to luck (and the lino making a bad call).

I don't disagree that another forward would be handy, particularly in that we are still a bit one-dimensional and Rooney isn't the right kind of striker for this team TBH. He looked better at #10 today.

Mata gets grief for slowing play but he always thrives on pace around him. Good ball retention, good passes. If Mephis could improve his decision making we will be fine

I agree about that offside goal and about Rooney looking better at 10. But the player who should be 10 is Mata, for me by far our best attacking player today. At times Rooney, Mata and Januzaj were all occupying the same space and that is huge example of our problems. Rooney is at present a better 10 than Januzaj but nowhere near the player Mata is. I hope we get a forward and if that means Rooney doesn't start I'm more than happy if we are scoring and winning games more comfortably.

Strange how Man City, Arsenal and Chelsea manage to get along quite well without a Fellaini of their own.
That is a very good point. When have Manchester United been reliant on a Fellaini. I like him, but we shouldn't be in a position that we are desperate for him to come back.

We lack a magician. I think today, we'd might have won with Rooney behind Hernandez. Hernandez is very sharp and we need someone to provide a bit more quality.

We are not great, but we are better.
For all the time and money Van Gaal has had, we're not better to any appreciable extent. Should any reasonable person not expect more of an improvement? We're not talking here about a new manager coming in with limited resources, having to make the best of what's there.

Agree Mata should be #10, that's why Pedro made sense.

Valencia doesn't cross half the time, that is he big complaint about him.

The annoying thing is how he slows us down the moment he needs to use his left peg, but when he does cross his crosses are bound to be better than Darmian's (who clearly isn't very good at it). With us on the frontfoot I can see why LvG did that and it may have well paid off had Coloccini not been on the way of that shot.

well, if you don't thump newcastle at home, you can forgot winning the title

I didnt watch the match but from what ive been told we did thump them, and the stats suggest that too.

The only thing we are missing is the end product. Our squad foundations are the strongest they've been in a long time.

It took us twice as many games to get this many points last year. If you can't see his we've improved then I can't show you.

That's the most important thing. You don't win games on a points decision.

If we win against the big teams like we did on a number of occasions last season then we have made progress. If we are winning and drawing against poor teams then lose the big games, then we haven't. If we beat Swansea next week, that will be progress, if not, then all of a sudden those gained points from last season will disappear quickly.

Im not saying you do. But the solution to our problem is much simpler than the one we had a year n half back. Like I said the foundations have been placed...just need the icing on the cake and cherry on top.

Problem we have a stodgy meringue called Rooney playing up front who has probably already eaten the cake.

Valencia tries to beat his man does he? The only time he even attempts it is by bulldozing past them, which is so predictable. He rarely beats his man and rarely puts in a good ball, besides those drilled across the floor ones.

Only got to see the first 20 minutes, how did we not score?

    Thats a lot of ifs.
