Got a lot easier for Newcastle once they found out that they're allowed to bodycheck our players off the ball.

Was he the reason we looked so blunt against Villa and Spurs too? If he is we should kill him, if not maybe we should find the reason why.
No but he disallowed a goal this game which he shouldn't have. I'd say that's being directly to blame.

Andy Pereira would come in handy with his movement and creativity, we have only Young now to replace Memphis which is not a win in any case, we looked like we played 120 minutes after 30.. no runs made just overlooked Januzaj who in the end looked ragged too. Is Sweinsteigger okay, looked like carrying an injury, might be the problem also if that is the case then bring Herrera on for him..

20 mins of superb play to get very excited about, then back to pedestrian stuff.

The final ball was very poor.

Rooney's touch is at least back.

    An open game.

    Ref has been shite.

being wasteful is a good thing.. shows we making chances at least.

    Frustrating first half.

We started at blistering pace. Then Newcastle closed their lines and we lost control of the game. Newcastle's compactness since McClaren tweaked their shape is now nullifying Januzaj, which is affecting our attacking play. We probably need to bring in a third midfielder and see if we can work our way though them now.

Referee is abysmal. Rooney on side, not given. Corner that never was given. Loads of fouls let go. Just pathetic.

Romero's control of his area is awful. Just hasn't got a clue. Every time they cross I am worried.

I would drop Schweinsteiger and put on Fellaini. Mata is doing enough but we need another to punch through the middle. This passing out to Memphis and Rooney, hoping that they will score is getting us nowhere. Need someone to attack through the middle. That or Fellaini on for Januzaj.

We're playing without a striker at the moment. Need to bring Herrera or Chicharito for Januzaj.

So even this half is not good enough for some...ok. Best thing about this half is that Mitrovic did not break some of our players.

Best performance so far. Januzaj the best player in the pitch. Memphis was hit and miss while Rooney a bit better than in the previous matches.

Smalling and Darmian not as good as in the first three matches.

Decent half, started off great but faded towards the end. Rooney is not having a great match but seems to have improved slightly from last games. Blind has been phenomenal IMO.

I think we will go for plan B - bring on Fellaini and Hernandez.

Also want to see Herrera play in the second.

You've just done a hoddle my friend... "I can see Fellaini sat on the bench looking at these crosses going in and he fancies this. He will want to get on."

Umm... No no he's still banned and I don't see him on the bench.

It does my head in seeing Rooney roaming about the park. Who the feck are they supposed to cross to if our main striker is running around near the touchline or in the midfield.
When on earth do our crosses ever reach anyone? Memphis to Fellaini apart and that was against ten men.

Not only is he physically a lot weaker than before (the way Mitrovic dispossessed him showed it) but the annoying thing with Rooney is that he doesn't wanna stay up front.
Yep, nobody to pass to, he's either out wide or sitting in midfield because he came too deep and lost the ball. Fecking annoying.

Great for 25mins, got nervy after their shot hit the post, have let them get comfortable since. Hope halftime can fix Schweini, that changed our approach. Rooney needs to move more or come off, he's stopped making runs. Chicha will stretch them.

Yeah it's disappointing how we've not kept a hold of the game, however I can't help feeling that a lot of frustration from not scoring has creeped into out game and that is what is bringing us down. If we had gotten that goal I reckon we'd be playing a lot better.

Always, but what we are famous for is late goals, which you don't get by sulking or getting frustrated. Getting frustrated is a weakness not an excuse.

Mata has been class so far, as have the midfield and defence. Rooney pretty good, goal should have stood. Memphis started well but then after about 30 minutes started picking the wrong option all the time. Januzaj has been pushed around too easily, needs to improve.

Games like this happen often though. You dominate the early part but you have to make it count and if we did, then it would've been like 4 or 5-0 I think. If not, then the other team grows in confidence and it becomes very difficult. We need an early goal in the second half.

We wereally excellent for the first 20 mins but couldn't not find the right ball. For some reason we have decided to go back to the shit predictable football for the rest of the match.

Adnan has had a decent half. Created most of our good chances. Some patience needs to be shown.

Memphis is being frustrating today but some of the reactions here are OTT.

I would drop Schweinsteiger and put on Fellaini. Mata is doing enough but we need another to punch through the middle. This passing out to Memphis and Rooney, hoping that they will score is getting us nowhere. Need someone to attack through the middle. That or Fellaini on for Januzaj.
    Fellaini's banned.

When will you ever have the guts to criticise a Rooney performance, since you were one of the people desperate for him to play up front.

Really good start. Rooney's goal looked onside to me? Should have been up, there was some poor decision making in attack. Newcastle came back into it though.

Do you even know who is on the bench,i mean Afroman is banned from last season...

Started the half at a frantic pace, this last twenty-five minutes we've been far to slow in our build up. To many passes in the final third.

Yet again we've been unable to take advantage while battering teams and now we've got flat - saw it all last season too

    Fellaini?

Respect to Newcastle for the response to our great first 15 minutes. They are fully engaged now.

No, I think that it's more an other Memphis, Fellaini would be a good addition too though.

It was another half where we started out very fast, converted on nothing, and the opponent carried the last 15-20 minutes. This half was poor. We showed very good linkup early on and Rooney's goal should've counted, after that Newcastle looked very menacing on the counterattack and nearly scored off us. Depay has made a few good moves but has been sloppy. Schneiderlin looks ready to hand Newcastle a counterattack every time he tries to pass more than 3 feet.

We run out of ideas, unfortunately when we're in the final third. We just need to take bit more of a risk. We'll be fine once it sinks into Van Gaal. Overall, it's not the worst I've seen us play. I'd go as far as saying - we've been quite good in the first 25 minutes or so.

Best performance so far. Januzaj the best player in the pitch. Memphis was hit and miss while Rooney a bit better than in the previous matches.

Smalling and Darmian not as good as in the first three matches.

Smalling has done well... Darmian is walking a tightrope now though which is a worry.

The moment BS did his ankle we have lost that drive in midfield

Mephis needs to learn to make decisions much quicker

We need Herrera to come in

Should be ahead, but that's the danger with this style of football. If we don't score with all the early domination we sometimes look clueless.

Just need a good start to second half.

I don't know what the NBC match day song is, but it is fecking shite and gets on my nerves.

    *Together as oneeee*
    Feck off

Slightly worried that we havent scored yet, hopefully we don't regret this 2nd half! I can see a nervy 1-0 win again
