No harm to rest Rashford anyway, after playing over the international break and starting at the weekend. Where Martial had the break off.Just goes to show you we need to sign both a LB and RB. Young, a winger, who has not played a competitive first team match since last year, is starting over Darmian a RB.
Rashford has been playing continuously for England and us, he looks a bit tired against Stoke so I expected and hoped to get rested tonight.10/11. Young caught me by surprise, but I should have guess, Tony V being kept for the next game.
Think it's because he wants to have a pacey player on the bench to come on vs tired legs
Judging from reviews of the U23s matches he still looks a bit off the pace, I think when we eventually ease him back in it's so he can have the place permanently.

I find it ridiculous how Young has remained with us, but I kind of hope he has a decent game to put pressure on Valencia.
A sensible strategy, I quite like it, let's both Martial and Rashford flourish when they come on and causes a nightmare for the opposing FB.

He is a good squad player to have. Doesn't complain, plays in numerous positions and usually is a solid 7/10. If he was starting every game despite better options then fine but I see nothing wrong with him being aroundDid anybody get 11/11?

I would say it's if that defence goes wrong, he has Valencia or Darmian who could come in for Young. Darmian and Carrick can play CB.Come on then Ash, on a good day you can be very useful.
In the second half of the season, Young will be first/second choice leftback (depending on Shaw's recovery) and second choice rightback. He's still a very good player.
Carrick has not played a competitive game in a very long time.
If we need "rescuing" Carrick is not the guy I would rely on.
Darmian on the other hand is decent in Europe.9/11 Never have thought Young would start

For someone who is so consistently injured and not even good enough to play in their natural position, they should have been released a long time ago.
