If that elbow to the face is not a foul then what is the point of VAR? Splitting 1mm offsides?

That's your takeaway from this half? What chances are we creating? Where's the intricate passing and team buildup play?
Funnily enough the one we’d want on the end of the chances has created 2 of those 3. I suppose if you had to back one to score that chance Rashford had from the Lindelof pass I would probably have backed Martial more to finish that than Rashford as well.

Genuinely not really much been created in the game. There was that James chance as well so 4.

Don’t know about you guys but West Indies are doing quite well here :D

Toothless. Looks like a lost at home. Non existent midfield, Maguire spreading pass all over the field. Players snatching their shots at the goal. Lingard really non-existent and missing a wide open goal. Let's see Ole can turn the game around.

Complete and utter sucker punch. It was a foul on DDG all day long. Some people might not like it and think it would have been soft, but they're always given so it's just double standards from the officials there.

Really miss Pogba in games like this, or someone better than Lingard in that position, to unlock the tight defence.

It's so frustrating. How many times do we have to see the same pattern play out over and over like this?

I just knew we would cock this up today. You can sense it straight away. Lingard missed a very good chance early on and since then we have created nothing, going wide and never cross the ball in. Why does it take so long to get the ball into the box?

James has done nothing on the right.
We missed chances from Rashford and James as well, those should get in.

No tempo to our passing again, it's Maguire and Lindelof on the ball not having a clue whom to pick out for a pass. We take ages to put together passes against teams sitting deep. The goal was an individual DDG mistake - we've seen them over the last few months. Shaw and Lingard look poor.

I don't see a comeback, we don't look like we can break that defence down.

Yep he’s stood like a statue at the back post with the reflex speed of the QE2. Id also expect a CB to be in the middle marking one of their danger men

This is completely right. Not only he was where he wasn't supposed to be, he also wasn't paying attention.

Going to be a 1 step forward 2 steps backward game isn't it. Sigh... hope not

We are the most predictable team ever. Every man and their dog knew Everton would give us quite a bit of trouble.

Now that goal is 49% on De Gea, 51% on VAR. How is getting elbowed in the face not a free kick?!

De Gea does need to be stronger, but VAR gives that a foul on another day

Usually the referee doesnt even need a var for that. It is jus tthe easiest way for a referee to call it a foul when a keeper is touched in his box.

I think if de Gea would look more convincing when going in it would be called a foul. It looks like he just goes in without any determination to get the ball.

There's still enough time to turn this around unless we keep fecking up like the first half.
We can win this 4:1 if lads wake up the way they did against AZ Alkmaar. This Everton is hardly any better than AZ

So this is what people mean, when they call some team, game raising cnuts.

Also, Lingard as number 10 in general should be prison offence for those who put him there, let alone vs team that defends.

Hope we turn this around but i still see feck all when it comes to playing football vs non open team. Guess there should be copy paste for "what are they doing on a training pitch" line.

You can talk about the foul but the goal came from a horrible little period in defence that invited pressure. Lindelof giving a daft free kick away and passing to the opposition, Luke Shaw with a weak clearance and then weak goal keeping from DDG. I wouldn't blame Lindelof too much for the OG. Foul or not, it was the kind of weak box command you sadly expect from DDG.

Lingarrd woeful. Take him off and dont start him again. Fed up with him at this stage.

Badly need a new ten in january.

It's hard to understand this United team. They could defend for an entire half against City. However, as soon as Everton started putting the pressure on we started hacking at clearances and being generally garbage in defence. The corner they scored from comes from Shaw opting to gift possession to them rather than clear his lines, and he wasn't the only one who messed up a clearance in that 10-15 minute period of Everton pressure.

This is why I don't accept people saying we are better when teams come at us. Sheffield United came at us and we looked cak. Same with Villa and now Everton.

What we are is a team with a small time mentality. Game raisers against the best: Like a lower league side trying to get a giant killing. As soon as the kudos of a big scalp vanished our levels plummet. Poor.

PS) Lindelof and Maguire's uninspired use of the ball hurts us so much in the build up

OGS has made a mistake in playing Luke Shaw.
He looked over weight and is not attacking enough. Also, he can't defend.
If that last chance before half time were to go to Williams, he might have scored.
No point playing Martial in this type of games where the opponents will go in hard on 50-50 ball.
Should have started Greenwood on teh right and James on the left.
I think Everton is going to win as there is nobody except maybe Greenwood that can make a difference in the substitute bench.

Which sadly is most games. It's as if he prepares us only to counter attack and we get thrown off when we can't

I think that's half on him half on the players. He can not coach them up to play with the ball against packed defences. And of course the players are not good enough to play in tight spaces. Other than Martial who in our team can play in tight spaces? No one and I mean absolutely no one.

Why the feck is yerry Mina not being man marked? We’re using fred to block him ffs

fecking hell. How many daft individual errors have cost us this season. (Was a clear fk but still)

Can see us winning this still. Started great and should have scored a couple early on. Bit shell shocked after the goal. Bad 15 minutes.

Lingard isn't on it today. Should get Greenwood on.

I knew when he missed the chance inside 20 seconds this game wasn't going to go well

(Well given Chelsea's result I suspect we all thought before the game it wasn't going to go well but that just confirmed it)
The chance was not the easiest and frankly I can understand him scruffing it. However the shite show he put on after that just took the cake. He only runs to hide behind opposition players and fools people into thinking he is a smart player. He is very dim, a coward who has genuinely no redeeming attributes as a Manchester United forward.

If DDG holds his face the goal is getting ruled out. Such basic school boy error.

Sort of agree with Souness there. I’ve seen them given, but what is De Gea doing?

Disappointing result for the first half. But judging the whole match based on the first half is premature. We are putting pressure on Everton. They should be pretty tired

feck off. You try punching a ball when a man mountain pulls your hand

Yes, it should have been a foul. With that being said, the hand hits at the same time he's punching. He took his eye off the ball. He has to go up with 2 hands and be braver. That was brutal and De Gea has to do a lot better...

The lack of defensive organisation is so obvious; Pickford has hooted the ball 60-70 yards on atleast 12-13 occasions and any other team would push up and play their lone player offside but of course with this Utd backline, it allows them possession 95% of time.

It's clear and fecking obvious, he goes into his shoulder and face and prevents De Gea from reaching the ball.

    Utter fecking incompetence

We’ve been in better positions to score than they have. feck we’ve been through on goal twice. They’ve had that flukey goal and a decent cross and that’s it

Weve looked shaky when they cone at us. When we have got into their box we kinda look like we don’t know what We’re doing- we usually run into a defender or try a very risky ball which never looks like coming off.

That being said if Liverpool conceded our goal at Anfield I have no doubts it would be disallowed

    Is Martial playing?

Hopefully he turns up the second half, he's had a few sleepy first halves then looked better in the second so hopefully that happens again.

when teams sits deep, our players seem to prefer to play it safe, passing left, right and backwards. Back to our old ways.

But Everton are not sitting deep. They are compressing the space in midfield.

We started off really well first 15-25 mins but just lacking that final pass/effort on target. Then we seemed to take our foot off the gas pedal and allowed Everton back into the game which they’ve taken and are ahead. What the f*** was DDG doing?

Shaw, Fred, Lingard & James have been poor.

The wins against Tottenham & Man City will mean jack s*** if we don’t win today. Especially with Chelsea dropping points yesterday.

People were very quick to heap praise on Solskjaer for those two great wins versus City and Spurs, and rightly so, but we have to keep in mind that what we're seeing today is atypical of the very area where Solskjaer needs to improve; namely, that 70% of teams playing very compact are often more effective versus us than the rest who come at us and give us space.

You only have to look at what happens to Rashford and James once the opposition floods the defensive third. With no space, Rashford's main asset, his speed, is nullified, and he doesn't have the kind of craft and vision to open defences up. Same with James. Not much Martial can do. He is creative, and good in small spaces, but sometimes he doesn't get (or give) the runs he needs.
