 yeah blame antony for casemiro being a bellend
Oh I’m not blaming Antony. Casemiro completely at fault. But I mean that’s where all the anger erupted from. Commentators were wondering why it suddenly erupted.

Tell you what, following game purely on this chat is stressful as feck.

Good game that has a bit of everything. We did well to see it off at the end there.
Motm is Martinez by some distance. Even Bruno did some good defensive work at the end.

YES! Great fight at the end lads! Marinez, Shaw, Rashford and Bruno in particular were fantastic! Liked the little bits we saw from Sabitzer too. Feel bad for Garnacho but needed to make sure we saw it out. Hope ETH gives him a start in next game to make up for it, especially since Weghorst was really poor today
    Pleased to hear this :)

You did see what Schlupp did to start all that?

How the heck is 2 hands around a neck not a red? It's violent conduct, doesn't matter how much force or squeeze, you just can't do it.

    Totally agree.

That being said you could make an argument for 3-4 red cards from scuffles like that. Raised hands and shoving. Fred even caught one of theirs in the face so not sure why Casemiro was singled out.

It was quite a strange thing almost like he was distracted and holding Hughes off and hadn’t realised where he had his hands.

Course I would. Its soft as hell. Those should simply never be reds. Give him a yellow and get on with the game ffs

You can't allow players to put their hands around another player's throat.

If they allow that, then we'll be in the very weird situation where a ref is going to have to decide if he's actively trying to strangle another player or just has his hands there and isn't applying pressure.

Don't you think that would be absurd?

    How was Sabitzer?
Had a tremendous interception in the middle of the park and immediately passed to Rashford on the halfway line who more or less was through with no defenders around him. Ref the cnut then saw a freekick that even the player who lost the ball didn't see. Criminal.

But that was sp clear and obvious, and the ref couldn't see it through all the players. If he was right in the middle of everyone he might have got away with it, but it was off to the side a bit as clear as day. Can't let that go unpunished

Just an aside but feck that twitter account.

I remember when I was on twitter that account mocking Gordon McQueen after his surgery

No idea who they are, I just searched Casemiro under Photos to get the image.

What did they say about McQueen?

Emotional ride. Wtf did he stop the play after Sabitzers pressing? Casemiro deserves red you can still take something positive out if this - 2 weeks of rest for him without injury can be crucial for the rest of the season! Plus we still got all points today AND Liverpool lost 3-0, dropping to 10th place. Could be worse!!

This is honestly one of the stupidest criticisms of a player I've ever seen - Anthony was thrown into the advertising hoardings, he didn't start anything, Schlupp who threw him did.
Yes Antony was pushed hard, but his reaction set off the dustup and what do you know, we have a red card in a game we were absolutely controlling. He reminds me of Bailly with the way he approaches the game, street mentality. .

really dumb from Casemiro that made the match much more difficult than it needed to be

the fuking ref though....wtf was Mariner doing with some of those calls though?

Just had a look at it on twitter looks more like he has hold of his shirt near his neck to me, rather than actually throttling him.

Daft either way. Not sure how pushing someone at full speed into an advertising board is less violent than grabbing someone but there you go.

What did they say about McQueen?

Made a glib remark about him sounding like he had a terrible cold or something while he was doing commentary on MUTV.

I pointed out that he had surgery for throat cancer, which they replied to say they know dismissively, then deleted the tweets a few minutes later.

Yeah, that’s football being dumb. It’s the reason why the language ‘endangering an opponent’ came in. Really, Schlupp could or should get a red card for it. He’s deliberately tried to shove Antony off the field with no thought to potential injury. It’s reckless just like honest challenges sometimes are but gets red cards.

    After we had conceeded.

99% of managers will instantly make a sub if their Midfielder gets sent off.

We stayed playing with only 1 Midfielder until we conceeded.

It's a clear error. No need to defend it.
There is a need and I'll defend it cause I don't agree.

Just saw a replay that looks to me like he has both hands on his shirt collar. Not hands around his neck.

Will Hughes reaction would suggest the same. Hughes is very passive for a man who is supposedly being choked.

Anyway, it won’t be overturned. But I really don’t think he had him by the neck.

Why make a meal out of it though like you did?

    I didn't. I just said it's an error/mistake. And it's a silly one.

That's all. Your the one making a big deal haha

The what the feck part of it is just because it's the obvious thing to do. Really not that deep

Next game will have all these things and it will be 4mins

So celebrate them actually getting it right for a change. It was one of the best things about the WC, we need to normalize high amounts of stoppage time.

3 major decisions today, pen, offside and the red, all were correct, now some of the soft fouls or unpunished tackles that Palace got away with, issues to complain about there.

Nah that's complete nonsense - Case was getting involved before Anthony had even picked himself up. You can be annoyed at him for reacting to that awful challenge (which I think is silly but if you expect all footballers to be robots then fair enough), but blaming him for Casemiro getting sent off is stupid, to the point that it suggests you're letting a bias against Anthony dictate your opinion, given that Casemiro was getting himself by himself before Anthony had time to react.

Need to watch the sequence again. From angle I saw, I thought the dust started with Antony rushing and sort of retaliating. You are right, I am not not particularly fond of the player. I am not expecting him to be like a robot but he has been close to inciting things in previous matches that went nowhere.

We don’t notice it because he’s blatantly the most one footed player in the team. Rashford literally assisted with his left foot a few days ago. He also created two goals in the cup against Everton by going on the outside and using his left.
But they’re all one footed they just take the ball to the byline and pass it back or try to dribble in using their right.
Players rarely, and I mean rarely, use their bad foot.
The miss hit pass across for Rashfords assist kind of proves my point.
Antony just takes his inside early. That’s literally the only difference.
There’s a reason why the right footed Rashford was terrible in the right side of our attack and it’s not because he was very good at cutting in with his left.
    Is Antony one footed? Yes
Is his weak foot worse than others weak foot? I’d say yes
Is he that much more one footed than his teammates? I’d say no

Look at this. He uses his left a lot less than Foden and Mahrez and the same percentage wise as Bernardo Silva. All three like to come inside a lot as well rather than hitting the byline

He was on the floor while the melee started, he did get involved in his anger, which I think is understandable, but he's definitely not to blame for it kicking off.

I actually like that the team flooded to his defence, shows we wont allow thugs to bully us when the ref won't do anything about it, but the red is squarely on Casemiro (and also on the officials when the foul and Ayew on Fred in the same melee were far more fitting of "violent conduct", some consistency would be nice)

Honestly? I'd love it if they did slam out reds appropriately post-match for things like this, when they've had time to review what went on. Because quite frankly it would discourage players from getting involved in hissyfits and handbags like we saw today. I mean, it's entertaining for some, and others will say "it's the passion!", but personally I'd prefer people let their football do the talking and avoid situations like, I don't know, Casemiro getting red carded and missing three of our upcoming matches.

That's got to be the worst reason for a red card I've ever seen, my word watch it in real time and it's nothing slow it down bit by bit you'd swear he's throttled him till he passed out, he also had gloves on to soften his grip around his neck. Well Casimero now gets a rest anyway. The only game imo we'd miss him away to Leeds. Have to cope now. 3pts well done lads.
