    Rafael------McNair-----blackett----Rojo

    ------------Carrick-------Blind-----------

    ------Mata-------Fellaini------ADM------

    -------------------Falcao-----------------

People have short memories about how poor Valencia has been on the wing.Januzaj was poor for one game whereby Valencia has been poor on 90+% of the match he played on the wing over the last two seasons.I don't buy that defensive abilities thing, our attacking firepower would be reduced by half with Valencia there. One okayish match on RCM position really clouded people's judgement.Would rather play Young.I'd still give Januzaj a go there personally.

Can't argue against Fellani to start given the form thing but I can't help but feel that he will turn back to his true self if we give him a start instead of use him as a sub.
He did quite well against Everton, a performance that could merit a place in the starting lineup. I know how poor he has been the past few seasons, but defensively he has been decent enough. With the form that Hazard has shown this season, we should try and do some damage control, even though our attack has been our greatest virtue so far. Rafa will need the help against Hazard that Januzaj doesn't offer. I'm aware of Valencia starting will probably limit our attacking options on the right, but I'd personally like this setup rather than leaving both flanks vulnerable, as Shaw isn't that astute defensively (yet) and Di Maria won't have the stamina to track back all the time, since he will be our main attacking force.

I'd like to see, injury permitting

    --------------------DDG-------------------

    Rafael------Jones-----Evans-------Shaw

    ------------Carrick-------Blind-----------

    ------Valencia-----Fellaini------ADM------

    -------------------Falcao-----------------

Remember when Antonio destroyed Ashley Cole regularly..... Evans put Drogba into a spasm.....Think Valencia is needed to help with Hazard and Blind should stick very tight on Fabregas - after Monday Fellaini surely must start ahead of Mata

I think this will be the turning point

I think until our defense is resolved, we should play 2 defensive mids in all games. Have Blind and Carrick protect the back four. Sacrifice one of the forwards. In my opinion, this is the only way to guarantee top 4 finish.

    DDG

    Rafa Jones Rojo Shaw

    Carrick Blind

    Herrera Mata Di Maria

    Falcao

At this time we had leaders on the pitch. VDS, Rio, Neville, Giggsy, RVN and Fergie, we had rebuilding a team and a spirit

Sure... but its time for someone to step up. This maybe LVG's turning point like in Bayern when they played Juve and won 4-0.

    4-4-1-1 diamond (as I don't think he'll drop v.persie)

    ------------DDG----------

    Rafael---Jones--Rojo---Shaw

    ------------Blind-----------

    -----Herrera-----Di Maria
    -----------Fellaini---------

    -----------V.Persie-------

    -----------Falcao----------

Fellaini for Mata and Falcao for Januzaj are the likely changes, although I'd also drop van Persie if Valencia is fit, despite how silly that sounds...

I don't want Carrick coming straight into this after 3 months out. That would be a disaster IMO. I'd like to see the same side that played WBA, apart from Falcao coming in to replace RVP.

    ------------Carrick-------Blind-----------

    ------Mata-------Fellaini------ADM------

    -------------------Falcao-----------------
For a fact Mata cannot play on the wings and it should be either carrick or fellaini on the pitch not both plus for a crunch game like chelsea you dont use twop inexperienced defenders in mcnair and blackett. LVG will use the same team just that in the place of Adnan, Falcao will come and Carrick to play in place of Herrera

    Could try this:

Bodies in the middle to try and nullify there creativity. Fellaini further forward to offer a target for the long balls we keep trying. Him and Falcao could bully their defence and hold the ball for the winders to break beyond the last man.

Carrick should play because he will offer more protection to the defense and Januzaj was bad and he should not start, Falcao for Januzaj and Carrick for Herrera

Just that Carrick should play in the place of Herrera then we will be more solid defensively

Now that Costa and Remy are effectively ruled out I cant see us winning. Ultra defence for the draw maybe, but I dont think Drogba can lead the line alone.

We still waiting for that moment when everything clicks when it comes to our team and i tho that moment will come in one of big games.Maybe Chelsea game is that moment, maybe it will be City, dunno, hope it happens in one of those two.

Januzaj has great potential but I think that he's too lightweight for this game. Chelsea are a well oiled machine who defend with cohesion and break strategically. They also have very athletic players, I think Januzaj would be bullied out of the game and rendered ineffectual... same with Mata.

Falcao, Di Maria, Valencia and Fellaini (never thought I'd say that) to lead the attack for me.

    --------De Gea
    Rafael Jones Rojo Shaw
    -----Blind--Herrera
    Valencia---Fellaini---Di Maria
    --------Falcao

I think Mouriniho is doing a fast one with regards Costa. Will be very surprised if he doesn't play.

I'll be optimistic and say we win 1-0 and repeat the result next week

I think we need to have someone taking Matic out of the game, to have any chance of getting anything out of it. The guy has been one of the best CDMs (since Makelele) for Chelsea, and we need to have one of our lads acting as a decoy for him to chase to open up spaces.
I'd rather Mata over Fellaini to be that decoy, since he doesn't tend to help out defensively anyways.

You've got the wrong midfielder, we stop Fabregas getting on the ball and we take a good deal of Chelsea's threat away from them.

Oh yeah...I forgot about Fabregas for some reason. I'm sure Blind will take care of him when the time comes.
But we need to take care of Matic so that our attacking players (i.e., Di Maria et.al) will have plenty of space to work with.

Essentially whatever we need to do to derail the blue bus.

You say that, but when Januzaj first broke through he was effectively our best player against Chelsea at the bridge that year.

Ideally we need to stop both. Fellaini as a 10 on Fabregas, and Carrick and Blind shield back 4/but also keep Matic at bay. Valencia and Rafael together on Hazard and I think we'll be fine.

I'd have serious doubts on that working. Fabregas is a mobile midfielder, Fellaini isn't. He has a history of losing people who tend to score against us. So I wouldn't do that, I'd play Carrick and put Blind on him, match Fellaini up with Matic if that's the route LvG goes down.

Herrera to replace Carrick on the hour mark.

That actually does sound like a better idea. I hadn't taken his lack of speed into account.

Herrera is probably fine, was probably just feeling the ribs.
Yeah, think he needed the extra week off but he should be fine for this. Hopefully anyways, we need his energy to press them but also his ability on the ball.

Didn't know about the bug, good news if true. Although Drogba is still capable of bullying Jones and Rojo.
If Herrera and Carrick are fit, we won't be so bad considering he's lost pace. Stop Fabregas and Matic and you've stopped his source. I think he'll start Schurlle and then bring on Drogba later though.
