I'd take Ashley Young over Messi, not even a contest these days.

As much as it pains me, just bring on Fellaini, Zlatan and Mctominay and hoof it.
Forget good football, it's only about points from now on.

Rashford has been shit. Not once has he tried to take his man on.
Yeah he's been rubbish again. One trick pony, and that trick is to leather in a cross faster than the speed of light.

It looks like we don't practice to attack in training. There is no sync in our attacking play. Mata/martial/lukaku all stand static when other attackers have the ball. Martial's movement off the ball is pathetic. Same with lukaku. Mata for all his movement have zero connection with other attackers. Poor stuff. Really want this team to do well and yet these guys don't turn up.

Movement and passing in the final third is worryingly poor, there seems to be so little understanding and combinations between our players which means we look as threatening as a wet tissue.

Once again, there’s players in the squad blowing hot and cold. Nobody is able to keep up any sort of consistant high standard aside from Pogba and De Dea.

I have no idea why we have been playing so slowly. Zero intensity.

You cannot expect Mata to do anything if all he is told to do is to pass wide and hope that the wingers or the full backs put one on Lukaku's head to score. So much talent in the team and no attacking flair at all.

Earlier it was Pogba's injury, now there is no excuse. We need to go on the offensive and yet all we are seeing is crosses.
I don’t think Mata is told to pass it out wide. He’s just a very conversative player who’s first idea is to pass it out wide, abit like Rooney. Pogba has been passing itbetween the lines, why can’t mata do the same?

Missing Fellaini, honestly, since that tactic is designed and tailor made for him.

Brighton will lap up Fellaini, their defenders are all strong in the air. We're playing into their hands at the moment, and the fact we've barely caused their 37 year old RB any trouble says it all.

Still think we'll come good in the 2nd half, but this has been every bit as boring as LVG's United.

Young has been alriht, defense hasn't done poorly despite the Brighton chances. But midfield and attack feel a million miles away from each other, different wavelengths, countries, everything. It's pathetic how poor we are attacking the opposition.

This is why Mourinho deserves the stick he gets. Mata, Martial, Lukaku, Rashford and Pogba are not 'average' attacking players. They are very, very good, and proven, especially at this kind of level. And yet, we barely look like we know what we're doing.

Mourinho's approach to attacking strategy seems to be: buy some good players, sort out the defence.
Yeah, one of the most accomplished managers of the modern era just buys good players and hope for the best. Dont be an idiot. Brighton are a well organised unit that have been a task to break down often this season. Feck me, some fans can’t wait to shit on our own, irrespective of what’s actually relevant.

Not very good. The defenders the only one that have done well even if Valencia started a bit slow, but he has been good near the end.

Mata, Rashford, Martial, Lukaku and Pogba need to step up! Mata and RAshford in particular have not looked good so far.

I don't think it was that bad, Brighton is playing really well. They are defending well and they look dangerous on counter.
Pogba, Young and Martial were good, Mata was poor. Also I don't understand why Lukaku drops so deep, there is absolutely no need for it and he is getting in people's way. Just lurk around the box and let Pogba/Mata/Martial provide.
Lindelof was okay imo, he is improving with each game. Not a spectacular by any means but he looks calm and solid so far.

Need a 10. It's all on Pogba at the minute, everytime the route to goal isn't blatantly obvious... Back to Pogba and make him start again.

He needs another genuine talent to share the workload.

By far our worst half at home this season

Valencia doesn't look fully fit. Rashford on the right doesn't work. Mata hasn't been great.

Checked runs, no passes in to space, cutting inside to a wall of Brighton players and no fecking pace. It takes Mata a good 15 seconds just to run the ball unchallenged 50 yards.
Take nothing away from Brighton, solid defending and some crisp counter attacking. A decent side for a promoted team. Martial needs to be brought in to the game more and Valencia needs to overlap Rashford more. Lukaku is playing decent enough but Mata is far too slow today. Hope we win, these 3 points are essential today otherwise the league could be out of sight.

They will tire. We can step up a gear or two.
Standard first half performance for our league games this season. Things will get better.

I'm sure I have more chemistry with some members of the CAF than most of the players have with each other.

Same issue that has been at the route of the majority of our poor performances over the last couple of years. Poor off the ball movement and not looking after the ball when we have it. Those two factors added to Brighton being more than happy to defend deep really does create the perfect storm to make us look a lot worse than we actually are.

Balance probably is the issue. May be it proves what Jose has been doing all along is right. Midfield is non existent during counter attack and young is caught up so high. May be Mata is not for this setup. Put Fellaini on for Mata and think we will be much better.
