I don’t know why but I think Pogba might start and Bruno on the bench tonight.

Why, DDG has been in good form of late.
He’s been good at the shot stopping part only. His distribution has been woeful, still way too passive, sticks to his line, and doesn’t have any mettle about him (see his kick vs Man City when he went down in a heap, and the same vs Arsenal). At least with Henderson we get a player who is a good shot stopper but is a bit more proactive.

We need 5 in the midfield if were not going to be run over.

    Prediction:4-3 win. Pogba2, Ronaldo, Sancho

I keep getting that little pre match buzz that I used to get before big games, then remember how depressingly shit we are.

I love how there are some that argues Henderson should start this one

I reckon Atletico will be the stronger team but collapse near the end

totally disagree, he is our best keeper and by some way, you dont drop out best keeper for games like this.

Hopefully the wide players are Sancho and Elanga or Pogba. No Rashford please.

    I'd like to see:

    DDG
    AWB Lindelof Varane Telles
    Matic
    Fred Bruno
    Sancho Ronaldo Pogba
But im pretty sure Maguire will start, and i'm not sure if Matic can play again so quickly after spurs.

Anyone know who the ref is? If its Cnut Cakes or that German ref who seems to drop a clanger of a decision in every big European game, I might cry. Just hoping its someone who isn't prone to their shithousery.

Edit: It's a Slovenian ref, hopefully he doesn't buy into their antics.

Yeah. Don't know him, so thats a good sign?

Oh that's not good. I want a preemptive inquiry now.

    We're fecked actually.

Yeah I expect a win but won't be surprised if we get knocked out. This is our last chance at a trophy and success this year so let's hope for a miracle run starting with a win tonight
Bang average is a little unfair, they have lots of quality and are the champions, plus they have started winning games again, they're a better side than us unfortunately.
I think they've won six of eight of their last league games. I wouldn't call them average. They're a good side.

The OT crowd will have a huge role to play. Really hoping the players respond, and i'm sure they will

I’d play similar team to our last game, I’d play lindelof instead of Maguire but we know that ain’t happening. Also possibly mctominay in for matic although if matic feels fresh enough then I’d start him with pogba and Fred. Elanga for rashford. Leave Bruno and rashford as the super subs if we need them. We know what there capable of coming of the bench.

2 out of 14. Deary me. The wins would be the 3-1 v PSG under Ole and 3-0 v Olympiacos under Moyes right?

In that time there was a 1-2 L and 1-1 to Real Madrid, 0-2 L to Olympiacos, 1-1 and 1-3 L to Bayern, 1-2 L and 0-0 to Sevilla, 0-2 L to PSG, 0-1 L and 0-3 L to Barca and a 1-1 to Atletico. I'm assuming the 14th game is the 2011 CL final loss to Barca.

Being a complete non entity in the CL in the last decade is absolutely depressing. Spanish teams can get fecked

Not to defend us too much but given the level we have dropped to in that time, with the exception of Olympiacos (went through anyway) and Sevilla, the others are pretty tough ties and hardly surprise results.

Before the 12/13 season, our past round of 16 matches had comprised of Marseille, Milan, Inter, Lyon and Lille. By no means easy, but nowhere near as tough.

Well tonight we will see lots of free kicks as the Athletico players fall over if someone is a foot away. If McT plays, he will get a card for sure. We must be at them from the first second and not piss about with the tippy tippy stuff. An early goal for us will see us through otherwise every minute without scoring will encourage them.

i couldn’t have said it better

Reckon the players will turn up tonight. It’s the season’s biggest game and they’ll know the season will be over if we are eliminated

1-0 United like we did in 2008 knocking out Barca

Nice touch from Rangnick to address TRA directly.

Those crackling, white-hot atmospheres at Old Trafford on a European night have been absent for too long.

    I know :(

Although they were always made better by ITV coverage and Clive Tyldesley commentating, not to sound too much like an armchair fan

Against good sides he does, not average ones like ourselves.
They had 35% possession against United in the 1st leg. Their three La liga wins since that game they had less possession than the opposition.

It's how they play, a big focus on defence and looking to exploit the opposition when they make errors when in possession.

Have a bad feeling about this match tonight not helped by the fact that United got knocked out of their last three champions league ties when drawing the first leg.
