Well that's just it, he's prioritising his own condition and risks rather than helping the club. Which you can certainly argue is fair but it's not usually what players do.

I think that's closer to the truth than him flat out refusing to play but at the same time he's probably sending a message through demonstrating his lack of commitment

Tbf, we have been pretty good against most of the big sides in the past few seasons. I think we are cursed in regards to Liverpool. In the cup game they were begging us to beat them.
