Both the Ineos and Qatar have said that the purchase will be debt free (ie no new debt added). Neither have said they will clear the existing debt (although I expect that both of them would).

United will be well off financially under either groups ownership, but will likely be better off financially under the Qataris, because they will have a load of bogus sponsorship deals lined up from Qatari companies, to boost our revenues.
That’s the one thing we don’t need, plenty of companies sponsor United for all sorts of random things as it is.

I know it’s difficult. I’m not iTK or on supporters bodies or anything. I hate the plastic vibe of city though. I don’t want to be a hypocrite

We won’t ever have that vibe though for fecks sake. City were built from such a tiny platform of success. We don’t suddenly become plastic over night. The people who think that way are at best thick as mince.

Why do people keep saying this.

We are not city or psg.

Our revenues do not need artificially inflating.

Here is SUV on boycotting the Qatar world cup:

Here is SUV when Qatar might buy United.

Here is @crossy1686 deriding people who would accept sportswashing at their club.

Here is @crossy1686 explaining that the new owners might actually be opposed to human rights in their country.

Here is @Telsim worried about the deaths of migrants in the world cup.
Username checks out.

So there are only 2 bids?
Well BBC last night said there's also confirmed interest from two US parties and there was some reported interest from Saudi.

I dont know if they've disclosed any bid though.

If there were other bids, surely they'd have been leaked.

Fair enough, some people are more fickle than I thought, but at £1.667 billion per opinion changed I'm not sure they have enough money to have a substantial influence.

I very much enjoy these posts.

2019 included a few hundred million of investments in sport, 2020 was the pandemic.
Forecast are for around 1.8bn /year.
Not too fecking shabby.

I’d also assume underlying profits are considerably higher. The company is owned by three people who already have more cash than they can ever spend, a lot of the companies profits will be reinvested into the growth of the company as huge profits just mean lots more tax. We can be one of those investments.

They'd be leaked if the bidders wanted it that way. Qatar have leaked theirs with some PR of what they'd do with profits etc. Ratcliff gave an official statement on his too.

I dont know, maybe the other parties are serious and opting a different strategy.

Born in Failsworth.

feck me Jim’s being smashed in here today, for quotes he hasn’t made and now people are going full Trump/Obama on him & questioning his place of birth.

All because he’s trying to buy a football club from a bunch of leaches.
It’s ridiculous and disgusting behaviour from a fan base who really ought to know better.

The thing is, does any of your or our discomfort over this deal count for anything? People could write millions of posts on the net but the people that matter don't care about those. The only meaningful action anyone could take against this takeover would inevitably be something illegal which any sane person won't or shouldn't do.

In other words, we have no power over what goes on here. We could shout every game about wanting Glazers out but we can't choose their replacement. So as @kouroux said above, the best thing is to detach yourself from off field matters. That's what I do personally. Who buys us, whether Greenwood plays for us etc won't detract me from what our players do on the pitch, because at the end of the day I can only support the players on the pitch as a fan. In this day and age fans have no other power over the running of their club.

Peace of mind?

United shouldn't need bogus deals we are arguably the biggest club in the world not some tinpot club.

I don't think things will end well if the Qataris cook the books unnecessarily

The reports in advance of yesterday's soft deadline were that it could be next week before the details of some bidders emerge.

And looking at how the scant details of the two bids we know about have been dissected, it might be wise for a bidder to say nothing until further down the process.

Exactly. The stupidity of people in this fanbase astounds me more and more every day. It should be so simple to understand yet people keep missing the point.
That's a bit disrespectful. This is a mental situation that people are trying to come to terms with, made all the worse when everyone's documenting their thought process and being condemned before they've worked it out. It's one thing to offer a counter view but to shut people down as stupid is unproductive.

Basically yesterday's deadline was pretty pointless for us fans.

So, they forecast around 2bn /year profit, which financially makes owning this football club no problem whatsoever.

You're overstating their performance, it's closer to 1b euros in reported contribution to surplus. I'm not into this crystal ball predicting, it's unreliable.

he LITERALLY was born in London. He moved to Manchester when young. He now lives in Monaco.
He was ‘literally’ born in Failsworth. Failsworth is a town in the Metropolitan Borough of Oldham in Greater Manchester, England,3.7 miles (6.0 km) north-east of Manchester city centre and 2.9 miles (4.7 km) south-west of Oldham.
That’s 208 miles away from London. I’ve heard of urban spread but your conspiracy is stretching that definition just a touch, don’t you think?

people thinking we need fake deals and sponsors like City are stupid, I don’t feel bad for saying that.

But you have no issue with whatever Qatar do as long as they are loaded?

What does that say about you?

You're happy to be bought to be used as a political tool for a country because thats exactly what will be happening?

Sad how sections of our fanbase can't see past all that oil money.
Every asset is a tool mate. Don’t be so naive.

Also a hell of a lot of this country has investment from oil money.

Here's the exact same wording from a Telegraph journo:

It's clearly come from the Ratcliffe camp.

Well someone buying the club on debt and who will owe US investors billions. Can’t really talk about restoring the club to the top of world football, the stadium , and greatness etc.

So it’s intangibles like “put Manchester back in Manchester United” which could also later on turn out to be ironically true when you’re left behind

Ineos won’t clear the debt. They are buying the club with debt (albeit put on Ineos). It won’t then make sense to get a new debt (with the highest interest rates in the last 20 years), to pay a debt that was taken with very low interest rates. That would be an absurd business to do.

Qatar on the other hand, might clear the debt, but we do not know it yet.

Just hoping for the best outcome out of a very hard situation to read basically

Failsworth is In Manchester for me I don't care what wiki says. It's on the outskirts of Oldham. It doesn't even have an Oldham postcode.

The best thing we can do as fans if Qatar are successful is not bury our head in the sand like city and Newcastle. Support our team on the pitch but continue to highlight and attempt to work with them to make changes for the better.

Ignoring their issues and turning a blind eye helps no one.
