I would rather the club has the dilemma of competition for places, if Rashford keeps his performance up he will get plenty of chances. Lingard is a good player but not a starter for me if we have serious hopes of winning major honors. It's as close to official as it can be. Reading between the lines, Mendes has told everyone it's done. The BBC don't lead with speculation on the front page of their website.
There were rumours all week it could be confirmed as early as today that Mourinho was taking over. I doubt this is all Mendes.
He might have deserved to be sacked but it wasn't the place of Mourinhos people to announce it. They could have gave him today to enjoy the win, maybe its timed so he can say goodbye to the players and fans before they all leave for the Euros. Who knows, but the situation should never have been handled that way.
No need for Mendes to force our hand if stories of 15m pre-contract fee payable if we don't sign him by June 1st are true.
